Surah Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya count 227

طسم ( 1 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 1
T.S.M. Toor-e-Sina and Moses - Recall Mount Sinai where Moses was given the Statute Book. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 1
تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ ( 2 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 2
Now these are verses of the Final Statute Book, clear in itself and clearly showing the Truth. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 2
لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ ( 3 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 3
(O Prophet) Will you, (in your compassion), torment yourself to death because they refuse to believe in it? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 3
إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ آيَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَاقُهُمْ لَهَا خَاضِعِينَ ( 4 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 4
Had We so Willed, We could have sent down to them a Sign from the sky, to which they would have bent their necks in humility. (But, that is not Our Design. We expect them to use their reason (12:108)). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 4
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ ( 5 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 5
And so whenever a Reminder comes to them from the Beneficent, they turn away from it. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 5
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنبَاءُ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ ( 6 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 6
Thus indeed have they rejected this Message. But in time they will come to understand what it was that they ridiculed. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 6
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ ( 7 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 7
Do they not see the earth how much of every fruitful kind We cause to grow therein? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 7
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ( 8 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 8
This is indeed a Sign, yet most of them are not believers (in the Almightiness of their Lord). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 8
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ ( 9 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 9
But, verily, your Lord is Almighty, Merciful. (Whether they believe or not He provides them with means of sustenance). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 9
وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ ائْتِ الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ ( 10 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 10
And recall when your Lord called Moses, "Go to the nation of the oppressors, Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 10
قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ ( 11 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 11
To the people of Pharaoh so that they may walk aright." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 11
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ ( 12 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 12
Moses said, "My Lord! I am afraid they will accuse me of lying. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 12
وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِي وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَارُونَ ( 13 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 13
I shall be embarrassed and I might not speak confidently, so send for Aaron to help me. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 13
وَلَهُمْ عَلَيَّ ذَنبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ ( 14 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 14
And they stick a charge against me, so I fear they will kill me." (28:15). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 14
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَاذْهَبَا بِآيَاتِنَا ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ ( 15 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 15
Allah said, "Nay! Both of you go with Our Messages. We are with you." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 15
فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 16 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 16
Go together to Pharaoh and say, "We are Messengers from the Lord of the Worlds." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 16
أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ( 17 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 17
And, "Let the Children of Israel go with us." (20:47). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 17
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ ( 18 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 18
Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not rear you as a child among us? And you lived with us many years of your life. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 18
وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ ( 19 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 19
And you did what you did, killing a man from our nation. You are of the ungrateful." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 19
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ ( 20 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 20
Moses said, "Indeed I did it but I am lost how it happened!" (I only struck him once with a fist and he died (28:15)). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 20
فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ( 21 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 21
Then I fled from you in fear. Now Allah has given me a Command and appointed me one of His Messengers. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 21
وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ( 22 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 22
And this, the past favor you so tauntingly remind me! Yes, you raised me in your palaces. But it was so since you enslaved the Children of Israel." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 22
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 23 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 23
Pharaoh said, "What is the Lord of the Worlds?" (20:49). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 23
قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ ( 24 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 24
Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them; if you allow yourselves to be convinced." (43:51, 79:24). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 24
قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ ( 25 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 25
Pharaoh said to the people around him, "Don't you hear what he says?" Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 25
قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ ( 26 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 26
Moses said, "Yes, He is your Lord and the Lord of your ancestors." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 26
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ ( 27 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 27
Pharaoh said, "Your Messenger that has been sent to you is a crazy man." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 27
قَالَ رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ ( 28 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 28
Moses said, "He is the Lord of the East and the West and everything in between. You would know if you use reason." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 28
قَالَ لَئِنِ اتَّخَذْتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيْرِي لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِينَ ( 29 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 29
Pharaoh said, "If you choose a god other than me, I will put you in prison." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 29
قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَيْءٍ مُّبِينٍ ( 30 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 30
Moses responded, "Even if I bring to you all evidence of the Truth?" Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 30
قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ ( 31 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 31
He said, "Bring your signs if you are truthful." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 31
فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ ( 32 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 32
Moses presented the Absolute Truth, vibrant with life. (7:107-108), (20:17-25), (28:31-32). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 32
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاءُ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ ( 33 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 33
He presented his powerful logic that shone bright. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 33
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ ( 34 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 34
Pharaoh said to his chiefs, "He is a magical debater. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 34
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ ( 35 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 35
He intends to make you ineffective in your own land by causing a popular rebellion. What do you advise?" (7:110). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 35
قَالُوا أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَابْعَثْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ ( 36 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 36
They said, "Put him and his brother on hold and send couriers into cities, Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 36
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ ( 37 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 37
That they bring all expert religious debaters to you." ('Sahir' = spellbinding speaker). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 37
فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ( 38 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 38
The debaters got together at the appointed day and time. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 38
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ ( 39 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 39
People were given an open invitation to assemble there, "Are you all gathering?" Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 39
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ ( 40 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 40
Pharaoh continued, "So that when the debaters win, we carry them in a procession." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 40
فَلَمَّا جَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ ( 41 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 41
When they came, they said to Pharaoh, "Will there be a reward for us if we are the winners?" Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 41
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ ( 42 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 42
He said, "Yes, and you will have high ranks in my court." (7:113). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 42
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ أَلْقُوا مَا أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ ( 43 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 43
Moses said, "Begin however you wish to begin." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 43
فَأَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْغَالِبُونَ ( 44 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 44
They put forward their logic and swore, "By Pharaoh's majesty! We will be the victors." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 44
فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ ( 45 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 45
Moses responded with the mighty Truth, and right away it swallowed their false logic. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 45
فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ ( 46 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 46
The debaters fell prostrate in awe. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 46
قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 47 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 47
Saying, "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 47
رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ ( 48 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 48
The Lord of Moses and Aaron." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 48
قَالَ آمَنتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ( 49 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 49
Pharaoh said, "You believe in him before I grant my permission? He is surely your chief who has taught you spellbinding eloquence. You shall find out soon. I will cut off your hands and feet alternately and verily I will crucify you everyone." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 49
قَالُوا لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ ( 50 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 50
They said, "We have nothing to lose, we will turn to our Lord and return to Him anyway. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 50
إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَن كُنَّا أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( 51 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 51
We hope that our Lord will forgive our faults, since we are the foremost of the believers." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 51
وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ ( 52 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 52
We revealed to Moses, "Take away My servants by night, for, behold, you will be pursued." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 52
فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ ( 53 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 53
In the meantime, Pharaoh sent couriers to the cities. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 53
إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ ( 54 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 54
"This is a low contemptible gang. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 54
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَائِظُونَ ( 55 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 55
And indeed they are offenders against us. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 55
وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَاذِرُونَ ( 56 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 56
And, we are indeed a ready army." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 56
فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُم مِّن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ( 57 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 57
Thus We drove them (Pharaoh and his chiefs) out of the gardens and springs, Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 57
وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ ( 58 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 58
And treasures, lofty positions and beautiful estate. (Destined to be drowned in hateful pursuit of Moses and his followers). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 58
كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ( 59 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 59
Thus were those things taken away from them and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit such blessings. (Instead of returning to Egypt they would rule the land including Sinai, Jordan, Palestine, Northern Arabian Peninsula until their zenith during the times of David and Solomon about 940 B.C. (7:136), (7:137), (20:76-80)). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 59
فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ ( 60 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 60
And they (Pharaoh's armies) overtook them at sunrise. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 60
فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ ( 61 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 61
When both parties saw each other, the companions of Moses said, "Behold, We are indeed caught." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 61
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ ( 62 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 62
He answered, "Nay indeed! My Lord is with me and He will guide me." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 62
فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ ۖ فَانفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ ( 63 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 63
Then We revealed to Moses, "Strike the sea with your staff. (Seek for them a dry path with confidence. Cross over the dried up Sea of Reeds (20:77), (44:24)). The morning found the two parties apart like two hills with a basin in between. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 63
وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْآخَرِينَ ( 64 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 64
And We caused the pursuers to draw near to that place. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 64
وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ ( 65 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 65
And We saved Moses and those with him, every one of them. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 65
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ ( 66 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 66
(And as the high tide came), We drowned the others. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 66
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ( 67 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 67
Herein is indeed a lesson. Yet, most people are not believers in the Law of Requital. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 67
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ ( 68 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 68
And verily, your Lord! He is indeed Almighty, Merciful. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 68
وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ( 69 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 69
And convey to them of the history of Abraham. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 69
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ ( 70 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 70
When he said to his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 70
قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَاكِفِينَ ( 71 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 71
They said, "We worship idols and we are very devoted to them." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 71
قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ ( 72 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 72
He said, "Do they hear when you call them? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 72
أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ ( 73 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 73
Or do they benefit or harm you?" Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 73
قَالُوا بَلْ وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ ( 74 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 74
They said, "Nay, but we found our forefathers doing this." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 74
قَالَ أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ ( 75 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 75
He said, "Have you, then ever considered what it is that you have been worshiping, Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 75
أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمُ الْأَقْدَمُونَ ( 76 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 76
You and your forefathers! Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 76
فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّي إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 77 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 77
Now verily, they (all kinds of idols) are enemies to me, for I am devoted only to the Lord of the Worlds. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 77
الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ ( 78 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 78
The One who created me, and He guides me. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 78
وَالَّذِي هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ ( 79 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 79
And is the One Who provides food and drink to me (and to you). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 79
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ ( 80 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 80
And when I get sick, then He is the One who restores me to health. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 80
وَالَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ ( 81 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 81
And Who will cause me to die and then bring me back to life. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 81
وَالَّذِي أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ ( 82 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 82
And Who I ardently hope, will absolve my imperfections on the Day of Judgment. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 82
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ ( 83 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 83
My Lord! Grant me wisdom and good judgment, and count me among those who have perfected their "Self". Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 83
وَاجْعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ ( 84 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 84
And grant me the ability to convey the Truth even to those who will come after me. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 84
وَاجْعَلْنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ ( 85 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 85
And include me among those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 85
وَاغْفِرْ لِأَبِي إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ ( 86 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 86
And forgive my father (by letting him become worthy of it). For, verily he is of those who go astray. (9:114), (14:41), (19:47), (60:4). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 86
وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ ( 87 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 87
And put me not to embarrassment the Day when people are raised. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 87
يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ ( 88 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 88
The Day when wealth and children will not avail anyone. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 88
إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ ( 89 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 89
And when only he will prosper that brings to Allah a noble heart." (37:85). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 89
وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ ( 90 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 90
And the Garden will be brought close for those who walk aright. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 90
وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ ( 91 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 91
Whereas the blazing Fire will appear plainly before those who had lost themselves in error. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 91
وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ ( 92 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 92
And it will be said, "Where is all that you used to worship and obey, Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 92
مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ ( 93 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 93
Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 93
فَكُبْكِبُوا فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُونَ ( 94 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 94
Then they will be hurled into Hell, the leaders and their straying followers. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 94
وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ ( 95 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 95
And the party of Iblis, all together. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 95
قَالُوا وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ ( 96 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 96
And right away, blaming one another, they will exclaim, Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 96
تَاللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ ( 97 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 97
"By God, we were in manifest error! Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 97
إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 98 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 98
When we ranked you with the Lord of the Worlds. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 98
وَمَا أَضَلَّنَا إِلَّا الْمُجْرِمُونَ ( 99 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 99
It is these guilty leaders who misled us. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 99
فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَافِعِينَ ( 100 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 100
Now we have no intercessors. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 100
وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ ( 101 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 101
Nor a close friend. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 101
فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( 102 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 102
Oh, if only we could have another chance that we could be among the believers." (23:99-100), (39:58). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 102
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ( 103 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 103
In all this, behold, there is lesson but, most of them still are not believers (in the Law of Requital). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 103
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ ( 104 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 104
And verily, your Lord! He is Almighty, Merciful. (He gives you sustenance for body and mind). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 104
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ( 105 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 105
The people of Noah too denied the Messengers. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 105
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ( 106 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 106
When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not walk aright? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 106
إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ( 107 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 107
Behold, I am a Messenger to you, worthy of your trust. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 107
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ( 108 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 108
Be mindful of Allah and pay heed to me. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 108
وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 109 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 109
And no reward, whatever, do I ask for it. My reward rests with none but the Lord of the Worlds. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 109
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ( 110 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 110
So be mindful of Allah and pay heed to me." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 110
قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْأَرْذَلُونَ ( 111 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 111
They answered, "Shall we put our faith in you even though the low class people are following you?" Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 111
قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِي بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ ( 112 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 112
Said he, "I do not care what their professions are and what they have been doing before. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 112
إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّي ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ ( 113 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 113
Their accountability is up to my Lord. If only you understood (that the most honored in the Sight of Allah is the one who is best in conduct (49:13)). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 113
وَمَا أَنَا بِطَارِدِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( 114 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 114
Hence, I shall not drive away the believers. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 114
إِنْ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ( 115 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 115
I am only a plain Warner." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 115
قَالُوا لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَا نُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمَرْجُومِينَ ( 116 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 116
They said, "O Noah! If you do not refrain, you will surely be stoned to death." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 116
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي كَذَّبُونِ ( 117 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 117
Thereupon he prayed, "My Lord! Behold, my people are accusing me of lying. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 117
فَافْتَحْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِي وَمَن مَّعِيَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( 118 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 118
Hence, judge between me and them openly, and save me and my company of believers." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 118
فَأَنجَيْنَاهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ ( 119 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 119
And We saved him and those who accompanied him in the laden Ark. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 119
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ الْبَاقِينَ ( 120 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 120
Then afterward We drowned the others. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 120
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ( 121 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 121
In this, behold, there is a sign, even though most of them are not believers (in the Law of Requital). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 121
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ ( 122 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 122
But, verily, your Lord is Almighty, Merciful (His Rule is the Rule of Law, and not that of dictatorial whims). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 122
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ( 123 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 123
Aad also rejected the Messengers. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 123
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ( 124 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 124
When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not walk aright? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 124
إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ( 125 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 125
I am a Messenger to you, worthy of your trust. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 125
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ( 126 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 126
Be mindful of Allah and pay heed to me. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 126
وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 127 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 127

أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ آيَةً تَعْبَثُونَ ( 128 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 128
You build on every height monuments of vanity. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 128
وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ ( 129 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 129
And make for yourselves mighty castles; will you thus become immortal? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 129
وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ ( 130 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 130
And you seize people cruelly, without any restraint. (Oppressing people into slavery to build these gorgeous buildings for you). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 130
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ( 131 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 131
Be mindful of Allah and heed me. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 131
وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ ( 132 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 132
Be mindful of Him Who helped you with good things you know and the know-how and skills. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 132
أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَامٍ وَبَنِينَ ( 133 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 133
He Who has helped you with, livestock and human resources. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 133
وَجَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ( 134 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 134
And gardens, and water springs. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 134
إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ( 135 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 135
Verily, I fear for you the requital of an awesome day." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 135
قَالُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْنَا أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ الْوَاعِظِينَ ( 136 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 136
But they answered, "It is the same for us whether you counsel us or not. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 136
إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا خُلُقُ الْأَوَّلِينَ ( 137 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 137
This has been our life-style for generations. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 137
وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ ( 138 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 138
And we shall never be doomed." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 138
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ( 139 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 139
So, they rejected him and We destroyed them. Therein, behold, is a sign, even though most people are not believers (in the Law of Requital). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 139
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ ( 140 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 140
But, verily, your Lord is Almighty, Merciful. (His Mighty Rule is the Rule of Law). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 140
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ( 141 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 141
Thamud also denied the Messengers. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 141
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَالِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ( 142 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 142
When their brother Saleh said to them, "Will you not walk aright? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 142
إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ( 143 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 143
Behold, I am a Messenger to you, worthy of your trust. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 143
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ( 144 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 144
Be mindful of Allah and heed me. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 144
وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 145 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 145
I ask you no reward, whatever, for it. My reward rests with none but the Lord of the Worlds. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 145
أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِي مَا هَاهُنَا آمِنِينَ ( 146 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 146
Do you suppose that you could continue in security as it is (with your unjust system) forever? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 146
فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ( 147 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 147
In gardens and water springs. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 147
وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ ( 148 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 148
And fields, and these palm trees and delicious fruits. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 148
وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَارِهِينَ ( 149 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 149
And that you will always skillfully carve out of the mountains luxurious mansions? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 149
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ( 150 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 150
Be mindful of Allah and heed me. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 150
وَلَا تُطِيعُوا أَمْرَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ ( 151 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 151
And obey not the command of those who trespass the bounds of justice and equity. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 151
الَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ ( 152 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 152
Those who spread corruption in the land, and reform not." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 152
قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ ( 153 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 153
But they replied, "You are but one of the bewitched. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 153
مَا أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِآيَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ ( 154 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 154
You are just a mortal like us. So bring us a miracle if you are a man of truth." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 154
قَالَ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ( 155 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 155
He said, "Behold, this she-camel. (She represents the weak and poor). She being (ownerless) has the right to drink at the well, just as you have the right to water (your flock) at the time of watering. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 155
وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ( 156 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 156
Do not harm her, or the retribution will seize you on an awesome day." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 156
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا نَادِمِينَ ( 157 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 157
But they killed her and made way for their own humiliation. (The usual rendering here of FAASBAHOO NADIMEEN that they regretted, repented or became penitent seems to be incorrect, since in that case the Most Gracious might have forgiven them). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 157
فَأَخَذَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ( 158 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 158
So, the Retribution seized them. Herein is indeed a sign, yet most people are not believers (in the Law of Requital). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 158
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ ( 159 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 159
And, verily, your Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. (He is Merciful that His Rule is the Rule of Law). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 159
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ( 160 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 160
And the people of Lot also denied Messengers. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 160
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ( 161 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 161
When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not walk aright? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 161
إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ( 162 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 162
Behold, I am a Messenger to you, worthy of your trust. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 162
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ( 163 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 163
Be mindful of Allah and heed me. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 163
وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 164 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 164
And no reward whatever do I ask you for it. My reward rests with none but with the Lord of the Worlds. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 164
أَتَأْتُونَ الذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 165 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 165
Of all the creatures in the Worlds, you approach males. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 165
وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَاجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ ( 166 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 166
And leave those whom your Lord has created for you to be your mates. You are people who cross all bounds of decency." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 166
قَالُوا لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَا لُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُخْرَجِينَ ( 167 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 167
They said, "O Lot! If you desist not, you will be driven out of the town." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 167
قَالَ إِنِّي لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ الْقَالِينَ ( 168 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 168
He said, "Behold, I am of those who deplore your actions." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 168
رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهْلِي مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ ( 169 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 169
"O My Lord! Save me, my family and my followers from the consequences of what they do." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 169
فَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ ( 170 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 170
So, We saved him and his followers, all of them. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 170
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ ( 171 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 171
All but the old woman (the wife of Lot) who chose to stay behind. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 171
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ ( 172 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 172
And then We utterly destroyed the others. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 172
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَاءَ مَطَرُ الْمُنذَرِينَ ( 173 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 173
And We rained on them a rain, the dreadful rain (from the volcano) on those who all had been warned. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 173
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ( 174 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 174
Herein indeed is a sign, but most of them were not believers in the Law of Requital. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 174
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ ( 175 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 175
Your Lord is Almighty, Merciful. (His Mighty Rule is the Rule of Law). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 175
كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ( 176 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 176
And the dwellers in the wood dales (of Midyan) denied the Messengers. (The Nation of Midyan lived between Madinah and Damascus since around 2000 B.C. They were the descendants of Prophet Abraham's son MIDYAN from his third wife QATOORA. Prophet Shoaib was raised among them around 1300 B.C. 7:85). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 176
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ( 177 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 177
When their brother Shoaib said to them, "Will you not walk aright? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 177
إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ ( 178 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 178
Behold, I am a Messenger to you, worthy of your trust. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 178
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ ( 179 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 179
Be mindful of Allah and heed me. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 179
وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 180 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 180
I ask you no reward whatever for it. My reward is with none but with the Lord of the Worlds. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 180
أَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِينَ ( 181 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 181
Always give full measure, and do not cause loss to people. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 181
وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ ( 182 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 182
And in all your dealings, weigh with a just balance. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 182
وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ ( 183 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 183
And do not deprive people of what is rightfully theirs. And desist from creating corruption and disorder in the land. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 183
وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ ( 184 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 184
Be mindful of Him Who created you and the generations before." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 184
قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ ( 185 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 185
They said, "You are but of the bewitched. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 185
وَمَا أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ ( 186 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 186
For, you are nothing but a mortal like us. And, behold, We think that you are one of the liars. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 186
فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ ( 187 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 187
If you are truthful, let fragments of the sky fall upon us." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 187
قَالَ رَبِّي أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ ( 188 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 188
He replied, "My Lord is best Aware of your actions." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 188
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ( 189 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 189
But they persisted in denial. Then the Day of overshadowing gloom seized them. It was the suffering of an awesome day. (Historically, a dark extensive cloud rained upon them heavily and incessantly. It is sometimes referred to as the Day of the Canopy). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 189
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ( 190 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 190
Herein, behold, is a sign, and most of them were not believers (in the Law of Requital). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 190
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ ( 191 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 191
Behold, your Lord! He is Almighty, Merciful. (His Rule is the Rule of Law). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 191
وَإِنَّهُ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ( 192 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 192
Now, behold, this Qur'an is the Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 192
نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الْأَمِينُ ( 193 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 193
The trustworthy Divine Energy (angel Gabriel) has brought it down. (2:97, 16:102). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 193
عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُنذِرِينَ ( 194 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 194
Upon your heart (O Prophet), so that you may be of the Warners. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 194
بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيٍّ مُّبِينٍ ( 195 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 195
(In a language that is clear and easy to understand.) In the plain Arabic tongue. (Universality of the Message 7:158, 25:1. Ishmael, Hud, Saleh, Shoaib, all of them preached in the Arabian Peninsula. And since Aramaic and Hebrew are ancient Arabic dialects, all the Hebrew Prophets, in this sense, conveyed the Divine Message in the Arabic tongue). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 195
وَإِنَّهُ لَفِي زُبُرِ الْأَوَّلِينَ ( 196 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 196
And verily, it (the Qur'an) has been announced in the previous Scriptures. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 196
أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ آيَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُ عُلَمَاءُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ( 197 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 197
Is it not an evidence enough for them that learned men among the Children of Israel have recognized it? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 197
وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ الْأَعْجَمِينَ ( 198 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 198
But if We had revealed this to any of the non-Arabs, Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 198
فَقَرَأَهُ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ مُؤْمِنِينَ ( 199 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 199
And had he read it to them, they would have had reason to disbelieve it. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 199
كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَاهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ ( 200 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 200
But to the guilty people, it just passes through their hearts (as a foreign tongue even though they might be Arabs). (41:44) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 200
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ ( 201 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 201
They will not believe in it until they suffer the dire consequences. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 201
فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ( 202 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 202
The Requital will come upon them suddenly, when they least expect it. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 202
فَيَقُولُوا هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ ( 203 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 203
Then they will say, "Could we have a respite?" Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 203
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ ( 204 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 204
Do they wish that Our Requital come to them quickly? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 204
أَفَرَأَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَاهُمْ سِنِينَ ( 205 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 205
As you see, Our Law of Respite allows them to enjoy Our bounties for years. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 205
ثُمَّ جَاءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ ( 206 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 206
And then comes that which they were promised. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 206
مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يُمَتَّعُونَ ( 207 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 207
Then, of what avail will be their past enjoyments? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 207
وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ ( 208 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 208
(It is Our Law that) We never annihilated a township but it had its Warners. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 208
ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ ( 209 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 209
Reminder! Therefore, this (Qur'an) is. We are never unjust. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 209
وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ ( 210 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 210
(Gabriel has come down with it (26:193).) It is not something that the mischievous diviners and clairvoyants bring. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 210
وَمَا يَنبَغِي لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ( 211 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 211
It is beyond their stature, nor is it in their power. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 211
إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ ( 212 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 212
(Soothsayers, diviners, fortunetellers etc., unless they reform), They are banished from hearing and understanding the Revelation. (15:17-18), (37:8), (67:5). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 212
فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ ( 213 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 213
Hence, (O Human) Call not any other deity with Allah, or you will be of the doomed. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 213
وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ ( 214 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 214
And warn first those who are close to you. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 214
وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( 215 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 215
(O Prophet) Lower your wing in kindness to those who believe and follow you. (15:88). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 215
فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ ( 216 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 216
To them who deny you, say, "I am free of responsibility from what you do." Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 216
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ ( 217 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 217
Put your trust in the Almighty, the Merciful. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 217
الَّذِي يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ ( 218 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 218
Who sees you whenever you take a stand. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 218
وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي السَّاجِدِينَ ( 219 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 219
And move among those who adore. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 219
إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ ( 220 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 220
Verily, He, only He is the Hearer, the Knower. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 220
هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ الشَّيَاطِينُ ( 221 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 221
Shall I inform you on whom the devils descend? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 221
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ ( 222 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 222
They descend on every lying, self-deceiver. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 222
يُلْقُونَ السَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَاذِبُونَ ( 223 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 223
They listen for lies and rumors, and most of them make up lies. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 223
وَالشُّعَرَاءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الْغَاوُونَ ( 224 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 224
As for poets, the strayers follow them. (Poets claim that they speak out of intuition or inspiration. Their followers succumb to emotional deceit). Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 224
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ ( 225 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 225
Haven't you seen how they stray in every valley of thought, like a camel with false thirst? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 225
وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ ( 226 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 226
And how they say what they practice not? Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 226
إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَذَكَرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَانتَصَرُوا مِن بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَيَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ ( 227 ) Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 227
Except those poets who believe in the Revelation. They (do what they say and) help create balance in the society. They engage much in the remembrance of Allah. They help create a social order in which oppression is requited and thus prevented. They stand up for human rights. The wrongdoers will soon find out how their plans would be reversed on themselves. Ash-Shuara ( The Poets ) - Aya 227
