| 1 [6:25] | Waminhum man yastamiAAu ilayka wajaAAalnaAAala quloobihim akinnatan an yafqahoohu wafee athanihimwaqran wa-in yaraw kulla ayatin la yu/minoo bihahatta itha jaooka yujadiloonakayaqoolu allatheena kafaroo in hatha illa asateerual-awwaleena |  ومنهم من يستمع إليك وجعلنا على قلوبهم أكنة أن يفقهوه وفي آذانهم وقرا وإن يروا كل آية لا يؤمنوا بها حتى إذا جاءوك يجادلونك يقول الذين كفروا إن هذا إلا أساطير الأولينوَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا وَإِن يَرَوْاْ كُلَّ آيَةٍ لاَّ يُؤْمِنُواْ بِهَا حَتَّى إِذَا جَآؤُوكَ يُجَادِلُونَكَ يَقُولُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِنْ هَذَآ إِلاَّ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Words | |ومنهم - And among them| من - (are those) who| يستمع - listen| إليك - to you,| وجعلنا - but We have placed| على - over| قلوبهم - their hearts| أكنة - coverings| أن - lest| يفقهوه - they understand it,| وفي - and in| آذانهم - their ears| وقرا - deafness.| وإن - And if| يروا - they see| كل - every| آية - sign| لا - not| يؤمنوا - will they believe| بها - in it.| حتى - Until,| إذا - when| جاءوك - they come to you| يجادلونك - and argue with you| يقول - say| الذين - those who| كفروا - disbelieved,| إن - "Not| هذا - (is) this| إلا - but| أساطير - (the) tales| الأولين - (of) the former (people)."| | ||||||
| 2 [8:31] | Wa-itha tutla AAalayhim ayatunaqaloo qad samiAAna law nashao laqulnamithla hatha in hatha illa asateerual-awwaleena | وإذا تتلى عليهم آياتنا قالوا قد سمعنا لو نشاء لقلنا مثل هذا إن هذا إلا أساطير الأولين وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا قَالُواْ قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هَـذَا إِنْ هَـذَا إِلاَّ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Words | |وإذا - And when| تتلى - are recited| عليهم - to them| آياتنا - Our Verses| قالوا - they say,| قد - "Verily| سمعنا - we have heard.| لو - if| نشاء - we wish| لقلنا - surely, we could say| مثل - like| هذا - this.| إن - Not| هذا - is this| إلا - but| أساطير - tales| الأولين - (of) the former (people)."| | ||||||
| 3 [8:38] | Qul lillatheena kafaroo in yantahooyughfar lahum ma qad salafa wa-in yaAAoodoo faqad madatsunnatu al-awwaleena | قل للذين كفروا إن ينتهوا يغفر لهم ما قد سلف وإن يعودوا فقد مضت سنت الأولين قُل لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِن يَنتَهُواْ يُغْفَرْ لَهُم مَّا قَدْ سَلَفَ وَإِنْ يَعُودُواْ فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّتُ الْأَوَّلِينِ | |||||
| Words | |قل - Say| للذين - to those who| كفروا - disbelieve| إن - if| ينتهوا - they cease| يغفر - will be forgiven| لهم - for them| ما - what| قد - [verily]| سلف - (is) past.| وإن - But if| يعودوا - they return| فقد - then verily| مضت - preceded| سنت - (the) practice| الأولين - (of) the former (people).| | ||||||
| 4 [15:10] | Walaqad arsalna min qablika feeshiyaAAi al-awwaleena | ولقد أرسلنا من قبلك في شيع الأولين وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Words | |ولقد - And certainly| أرسلنا - We (had) sent| من - before you| قبلك - before you| في - in| شيع - the sects| الأولين - (of) the former (people).| | ||||||
| 5 [15:13] | La yu/minoona bihi waqad khalatsunnatu al-awwaleena | لا يؤمنون به وقد خلت سنة الأولين لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Words | |لا - Not| يؤمنون - they believe| به - in it,| وقد - and verily| خلت - have passed| سنة - the way(s)| الأولين - (of) the former (people).| | ||||||
| 6 [16:24] | Wa-itha qeela lahum mathaanzala rabbukum qaloo asateeru al-awwaleena | وإذا قيل لهم ماذا أنزل ربكم قالوا أساطير الأولين وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُم مَّاذَا أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ قَالُواْ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Words | |وإذا - And when| قيل - it is said| لهم - to them,| ماذا - "What| أنزل - has your Lord sent down?| ربكم - has your Lord sent down?| قالوا - They say,| أساطير - "Tales| الأولين - (of) the ancient."| | ||||||
| 7 [18:55] | Wama manaAAa alnnasa anyu/minoo ith jaahumu alhuda wayastaghfiroorabbahum illa an ta/tiyahum sunnatu al-awwaleena awya/tiyahumu alAAathabu qubulan | وما منع الناس أن يؤمنوا إذ جاءهم الهدى ويستغفروا ربهم إلا أن تأتيهم سنة الأولين أو يأتيهم العذاب قبلا وَمَا مَنَعَ النَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا إِذْ جَاءَهُمُ الْهُدَى وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّهُمْ إِلاَّ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ سُنَّةُ الْأَوَّلِينَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ قُبُلاً | |||||
| Words | |وما - And nothing| منع - prevents| الناس - men| أن - that| يؤمنوا - they believe| إذ - when| جاءهم - has come to them| الهدى - the guidance| ويستغفروا - and they ask forgiveness| ربهم - (of) their Lord,| إلا - except| أن - that| تأتيهم - comes to them| سنة - (the) way| الأولين - (of) the former (people)| أو - or| يأتيهم - comes to them| العذاب - the punishment| قبلا - before (them)?| | ||||||
| 8 [23:24] | Faqala almalao allatheenakafaroo min qawmihi ma hatha illa basharunmithlukum yureedu an yatafaddala AAalaykum walaw shaaAllahu laanzala mala-ikatan ma samiAAnabihatha fee aba-ina al-awwaleena | فقال الملأ الذين كفروا من قومه ما هذا إلا بشر مثلكم يريد أن يتفضل عليكم ولو شاء الله لأنزل ملائكة ما سمعنا بهذا في آبائنا الأولين فَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ مَا هَذَا إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَائِكَةً مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَذَا فِي آبَائِنَا الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Words | |فقال - But said| الملأ - the chiefs| الذين - (of) those who| كفروا - disbelieved| من - among| قومه - his people,| ما - "This is not| هذا - "This is not| إلا - but| بشر - a man| مثلكم - like you,| يريد - he wishes| أن - to| يتفضل - assert (his) superiority| عليكم - over you,| ولو - and if| شاء - Allah had willed| الله - Allah had willed| لأنزل - surely He (would have) sent down| ملائكة - Angels.| ما - Not| سمعنا - we heard| بهذا - of this| في - from| آبائنا - our forefathers.| الأولين - our forefathers.| | ||||||
| 9 [23:68] | Afalam yaddabbaroo alqawla am jaahumma lam ya/ti abaahumu al-awwaleena | أفلم يدبروا القول أم جاءهم ما لم يأت آباءهم الأولين أَفَلَمْ يَدَّبَّرُوا الْقَوْلَ أَمْ جَاءَهُم مَّا لَمْ يَأْتِ آبَاءَهُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Words | |أفلم - Then, do not| يدبروا - they ponder| القول - the Word| أم - or| جاءهم - has come to them| ما - what| لم - not| يأت - (had) come| آباءهم - (to) their forefathers?| الأولين - (to) their forefathers?| | ||||||
| 10 [23:83] | Laqad wuAAidna nahnu waabaonahatha min qablu in hatha illa asateerual-awwaleena | لقد وعدنا نحن وآباؤنا هذا من قبل إن هذا إلا أساطير الأولين لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا نَحْنُ وَآبَاؤُنَا هَذَا مِن قَبْلُ إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||

| 11 [25:5] | Waqaloo asateeru al-awwaleenaiktatabaha fahiya tumla AAalayhi bukratan waaseelan | وقالوا أساطير الأولين اكتتبها فهي تملى عليه بكرة وأصيلا وَقَالُوا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ اكْتَتَبَهَا فَهِيَ تُمْلَى عَلَيْهِ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا | |||||
| Words | |وقالوا - And they say,| أساطير - "Tales| الأولين - (of) the former people| اكتتبها - which he has had written| فهي - and they| تملى - are dictated| عليه - to him| بكرة - morning| وأصيلا - and evening."| | ||||||
| 12 [26:26] | Qala rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumual-awwaleena | قال ربكم ورب آبائكم الأولين قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Words | |قال - He said,| ربكم - "Your Lord| ورب - and (the) Lord| آبائكم - (of) your forefathers."| الأولين - (of) your forefathers."| | ||||||
| 13 [26:137] | In hatha illa khuluqual-awwaleena | إن هذا إلا خلق الأولين إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا خُلُقُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||

| 14 [26:184] | Waittaqoo allathee khalaqakumwaaljibillata al-awwaleena | واتقوا الذي خلقكم والجبلة الأولين وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Words | |واتقوا - And fear| الذي - the One Who| خلقكم - created you| والجبلة - and the generations| الأولين - the former."| | ||||||
| 15 [26:196] | Wa-innahu lafee zuburi al-awwaleena | وإنه لفي زبر الأولين وَإِنَّهُ لَفِي زُبُرِ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||

| 17 [28:36] | Falamma jaahum moosabi-ayatina bayyinatin qaloo mahatha illa sihrun muftaran wamasamiAAna bihatha fee aba-inaal-awwaleena | فلما جاءهم موسى بآياتنا بينات قالوا ما هذا إلا سحر مفترى وما سمعنا بهذا في آبائنا الأولين فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُم مُّوسَى بِآيَاتِنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ قَالُوا مَا هَذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّفْتَرًى وَمَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَذَا فِي آبَائِنَا الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Words | |فلما - But when| جاءهم - came to them| موسى - Musa| بآياتنا - with Our Signs| بينات - clear,| قالوا - they said,| ما - "Not| هذا - (is) this| إلا - except| سحر - a magic| مفترى - invented,| وما - and not| سمعنا - we heard| بهذا - of this| في - among| آبائنا - our forefathers."| الأولين - our forefathers."| | ||||||
| 18 [35:43] | Istikbaran fee al-ardi wamakraalssayyi-i wala yaheequ almakru alssayyi-oilla bi-ahlihi fahal yanthuroona illasunnata al-awwaleena falan tajida lisunnati Allahitabdeelan walan tajida lisunnati Allahi tahweelan | استكبارا في الأرض ومكر السيئ ولا يحيق المكر السيئ إلا بأهله فهل ينظرون إلا سنت الأولين فلن تجد لسنت الله تبديلا ولن تجد لسنت الله تحويلا اسْتِكْبَارًا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَكْرَ السَّيِّئِ وَلَا يَحِيقُ الْمَكْرُ السَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِ فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَ الْأَوَّلِينَ فَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ اللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ اللَّهِ تَحْوِيلًا | |||||
| Words | |استكبارا - (Due to) arrogance| في - in| الأرض - the land| ومكر - and plotting| السيئ - (of) the evil;| ولا - but not| يحيق - encompasses| المكر - the plot| السيئ - (of) the evil| إلا - except| بأهله - its own people.| فهل - Then do| ينظرون - they wait| إلا - except| سنت - (the) way| الأولين - (of) the former (people)?| فلن - But never| تجد - you will find| لسنت - in (the) way| الله - (of) Allah| تبديلا - any change,| ولن - and never| تجد - you will find| لسنت - in (the) way| الله - (of) Allah| تحويلا - any alteration.| | ||||||
| 19 [37:71] | Walaqad dalla qablahum aktharual-awwaleena | ولقد ضل قبلهم أكثر الأولين وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
