بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

1 [18:55] | Wama manaAAa alnnasa anyu/minoo ith jaahumu alhuda wayastaghfiroorabbahum illa an ta/tiyahum sunnatu al-awwaleena awya/tiyahumu alAAathabu qubulan
| وما منع الناس أن يؤمنوا إذ جاءهم الهدى ويستغفروا ربهم إلا أن تأتيهم سنة الأولين أو يأتيهم العذاب قبلا وَمَا مَنَعَ النَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا إِذْ جَاءَهُمُ الْهُدَى وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّهُمْ إِلاَّ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ سُنَّةُ الْأَوَّلِينَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ قُبُلاً |

| ሰዎችንም መምሪያ በመጣላቸው ጊዜ ከማመንና ጌታቸውንም ምሕረትን ከመለመን የመጀመሪዎቹ (ሕዝቦች) ልማድ (መጥፋት) ልትመጣባቸው ወይም ቅጣቱ በያይነቱ ሊመጣባቸው (መጠባበቅ) እንጂ ሌላ አልከለከላቸውም፡፡ |
آل الجلالين | { وما منع الناس } أي كفار مكة { أن يؤمنوا } مفعول ثان { إذ جاءهم الهدى } القرآن { ويستغفروا ربهم إلا أن تأتيهم سنة الأولين } فاعل أي سنتنا فيهم وهي الإهلاك المقدر عليهم { أو يأتيهم العذاب قبلاً } مقابلة وعيناً، وهو القتل يوم بدر وفي قراءة بضمتين جمع قبيل أي أنواعا . |
| D acu i iîîfen imdanen ad amnen, mi ten id tusa nnhaya, u ad ste$fôen Mass nnsen? Ar ten id tas kan, tin ivôan d imezwura, ne$ ar d irs, zdat sen, uâaqeb? |
মুহিউদ্দীন খান | হেদায়েত আসার পর এ প্রতীক্ষাই শুধু মানুষকে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করতে এবং তাদের পালনকর্তার কাছে ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করতে বিরত রাখে যে, কখন আসবে তাদের কাছে পূর্ববর্তীদের রীতিনীতি অথবা কখন আসবে তাদের কাছেআযাব সামনাসামনি। |
Literal | And what prevented/forbid the people that (E) they believe when the guidance came to them? And they ask for forgiveness (from) their Lord? Except that the first's/beginner's law/manner comes to them or the punishment comes to them in front/facing front. |
Yusuf Ali | And what is there to keep back men from believing, now that Guidance has come to them, nor from praying for forgiveness from their Lord, but that (they ask that) the ways of the ancients be repeated with them, or the Wrath be brought to them face to face? |
Pickthal | And naught hindereth mankind from believing when the guidance cometh unto them, and from asking forgiveness of their Lord unless (it be that they wish) that the judgment of the men of old should come upon them or (that) they should be confronted with the Doom. |
Arberry | And naught prevented men from believing when the guidance came unto them, and seeking their Lord's forgiveness, but that the wont of the ancients should come upon them, or that the chastisement should come upon them face to face. |

Abul Ala Maududi | اُن کے سامنے جب ہدایت آئی تو اسے ماننے اور اپنے رب کے حضور معافی چاہنے سے آخر اُن کوکس چیز نے روک دیا؟ اِس کے سوا اور کچھ نہیں کہ وہ منتظر ہیں کہ اُن کے ساتھ بھی وہی کچھ ہو جو پچھلی قوموں کے ساتھ ہو چکا ہے، یا یہ کہ وہ عذاب کو سامنے آتے دیکھ لیں! |
