| 1 [2:170] | Wa-itha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo maanzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma alfaynaAAalayhi abaana awa law kana abaohumla yaAAqiloona shay-an wala yahtadoona |  وإذا قيل لهم اتبعوا ما أنزل الله قالوا بل نتبع ما ألفينا عليه آباءنا أولو كان آباؤهم لا يعقلون شيئا ولا يهتدونوَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللّهُ قَالُواْ بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا أَلْفَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا أَوَلَوْ كَانَ آبَاؤُهُمْ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ شَيْئاً وَلاَ يَهْتَدُونَ | |||||
| Words | |وإذا - And when| قيل - it is said| لهم - to them,| اتبعوا - "Follow| ما - what| أنزل - has revealed| الله - Allah,"| قالوا - they said,| بل - "Nay| نتبع - we follow| ما - what| ألفينا - we found| عليه - [on it]| آباءنا - our forefathers (following)".| أولو - Even though| كان - [were]| آباؤهم - their forefathers| لا - (did) not| يعقلون - understand| شيئا - anything| ولا - and not| يهتدون - were they guided?| | ||||||
| 2 [5:104] | Wa-itha qeela lahum taAAalawila ma anzala Allahu wa-ila alrrasooliqaloo hasbuna ma wajadnaAAalayhi abaana awa law kana abaohumla yaAAlamoona shay-an wala yahtadoona | وإذا قيل لهم تعالوا إلى ما أنزل الله وإلى الرسول قالوا حسبنا ما وجدنا عليه آباءنا أولو كان آباؤهم لا يعلمون شيئا ولا يهتدون وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْاْ إِلَى مَا أَنزَلَ اللّهُ وَإِلَى الرَّسُولِ قَالُواْ حَسْبُنَا مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا أَوَلَوْ كَانَ آبَاؤُهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ شَيْئًا وَلاَ يَهْتَدُونَ | |||||
| Words | |وإذا - And when| قيل - it is said| لهم - to them,| تعالوا - "Come| إلى - to| ما - what| أنزل - has (been) revealed| الله - (by) Allah| وإلى - and to| الرسول - the Messenger,"| قالوا - they said,| حسبنا - "Sufficient for us| ما - (is) what| وجدنا - we found| عليه - upon it| آباءنا - our forefathers."| أولو - Even though| كان - (that)| آباؤهم - their forefathers| لا - (were) not| يعلمون - knowing| شيئا - anything| ولا - and not| يهتدون - they (were) guided?| | ||||||
| 3 [7:28] | Wa-itha faAAaloo fahishatan qaloowajadna AAalayha abaana waAllahuamarana biha qul inna Allaha laya/muru bialfahsha-i ataqooloona AAalaAllahi ma la taAAlamoona | وإذا فعلوا فاحشة قالوا وجدنا عليها آباءنا والله أمرنا بها قل إن الله لا يأمر بالفحشاء أتقولون على الله ما لا تعلمون وَإِذَا فَعَلُواْ فَاحِشَةً قَالُواْ وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهَا آبَاءَنَا وَاللّهُ أَمَرَنَا بِهَا قُلْ إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْفَحْشَاءِ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللّهِ مَا لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Words | |وإذا - And when| فعلوا - they do| فاحشة - immorality| قالوا - they say,| وجدنا - "We found| عليها - on it| آباءنا - our forefathers| والله - and Allah| أمرنا - (has) ordered us| بها - of it."| قل - Say,| إن - "Indeed,| الله - Allah| لا - (does) not| يأمر - order| بالفحشاء - immorality.| أتقولون - Do you say| على - about| الله - Allah| ما - what| لا - not| تعلمون - you know?"| | ||||||
| 4 [7:95] | Thumma baddalna makana alssayyi-atialhasanata hatta AAafaw waqaloo qadmassa abaana alddarraowaalssarrao faakhathnahum baghtatanwahum la yashAAuroona | ثم بدلنا مكان السيئة الحسنة حتى عفوا وقالوا قد مس آباءنا الضراء والسراء فأخذناهم بغتة وهم لا يشعرون ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ السَّيِّئَةِ الْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّى عَفَواْ وَّقَالُواْ قَدْ مَسَّ آبَاءَنَا الضَّرَّاءُ وَالسَّرَّاءُ فَأَخَذْنَاهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ | |||||
| Words | |ثم - Then| بدلنا - We changed| مكان - (in) place| السيئة - (of) the bad| الحسنة - the good,| حتى - until| عفوا - they increased| وقالوا - and said,| قد - "Verily,| مس - (had) touched| آباءنا - our forefathers| الضراء - the adversity| والسراء - and the ease."| فأخذناهم - So We seized them| بغتة - suddenly,| وهم - while they| لا - (did) not| يشعرون - perceive.| | ||||||
| 5 [10:78] | Qaloo aji/tana litalfitanaAAamma wajadna AAalayhi abaanawatakoona lakuma alkibriyao fee al-ardi wamanahnu lakuma bimu/mineena | قالوا أجئتنا لتلفتنا عما وجدنا عليه آباءنا وتكون لكما الكبرياء في الأرض وما نحن لكما بمؤمنين قَالُواْ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَلْفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا الْكِبْرِيَاءُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكُمَا بِمُؤْمِنِينَ | |||||
| Words | |قالوا - They said,| أجئتنا - "Have you come to us| لتلفتنا - to turn us away| عما - from that| وجدنا - we found| عليه - on it| آباءنا - our forefathers,| وتكون - and you two (may) have| لكما - and you two (may) have| الكبرياء - the greatness| في - in| الأرض - the land?| وما - And we (are) not| نحن - And we (are) not| لكما - (in) you two| بمؤمنين - believers."| | ||||||
| 6 [21:53] | Qaloo wajadna abaanalaha AAabideena | قالوا وجدنا آباءنا لها عابدين قَالُوا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا لَهَا عَابِدِينَ | |||||
| Words | |قالوا - They said,| وجدنا - "We found| آباءنا - our forefathers| لها - of them| عابدين - worshippers."| | ||||||
| 7 [26:74] | Qaloo bal wajadna abaanakathalika yafAAaloona | قالوا بل وجدنا آباءنا كذلك يفعلون قَالُوا بَلْ وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا كَذَلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ | |||||
| Words | |قالوا - They said,| بل - "Nay,| وجدنا - but we found| آباءنا - our forefathers| كذلك - like that -| يفعلون - doing."| | ||||||
| 8 [31:21] | Wa-itha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo maanzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma wajadnaAAalayhi abaana awa law kana alshshaytanuyadAAoohum ila AAathabi alssaAAeeri | وإذا قيل لهم اتبعوا ما أنزل الله قالوا بل نتبع ما وجدنا عليه آباءنا أولو كان الشيطان يدعوهم إلى عذاب السعير وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا أَوَلَوْ كَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى عَذَابِ السَّعِيرِ | |||||
| Words | |وإذا - And when| قيل - it is said| لهم - to them,| اتبعوا - "Follow| ما - what| أنزل - Allah (has) revealed,"| الله - Allah (has) revealed,"| قالوا - they say,| بل - "Nay,| نتبع - we will follow| ما - what| وجدنا - we found| عليه - on it| آباءنا - our forefathers."| أولو - Even if| كان - Shaitaan was| الشيطان - Shaitaan was| يدعوهم - (to) call them| إلى - to| عذاب - (the) punishment| السعير - (of) the Blaze!| | ||||||
| 9 [43:22] | Bal qaloo inna wajadna abaanaAAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihimmuhtadoona | بل قالوا إنا وجدنا آباءنا على أمة وإنا على آثارهم مهتدون بَلْ قَالُوا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا عَلَى أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ | |||||
| Words | |بل - Nay,| قالوا - they say,| إنا - "Indeed, we| وجدنا - [we] found| آباءنا - our forefathers| على - upon| أمة - a religion| وإنا - and indeed, we| على - on| آثارهم - their footsteps| مهتدون - (are) guided."| | ||||||
| 10 [43:23] | Wakathalika ma arsalnamin qablika fee qaryatin min natheerin illa qalamutrafooha inna wajadna abaanaAAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihimmuqtadoona | وكذلك ما أرسلنا من قبلك في قرية من نذير إلا قال مترفوها إنا وجدنا آباءنا على أمة وإنا على آثارهم مقتدون وَكَذَلِكَ مَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا عَلَى أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ | |||||
| Words | |وكذلك - And thus| ما - not| أرسلنا - We sent| من - before you| قبلك - before you| في - in| قرية - a town| من - any| نذير - warner| إلا - except| قال - said| مترفوها - (the) wealthy ones of it,| إنا - "Indeed, we| وجدنا - [we] found| آباءنا - our forefathers| على - on| أمة - a religion,| وإنا - and indeed, we| على - [on]| آثارهم - their footsteps| مقتدون - (are) following."| | ||||||
