1 [8:67] | Ma kana linabiyyin an yakoonalahu asra hatta yuthkhina fee al-arditureedoona AAarada alddunya waAllahuyureedu al-akhirata waAllahu AAazeezun hakeemun
| ما كان لنبي أن يكون له أسرى حتى يثخن في الأرض تريدون عرض الدنيا والله يريد الآخرة والله عزيز حكيم مَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَن يَكُونَ لَهُ أَسْرَى حَتَّى يُثْخِنَ فِي الْأَرْضِ تُرِيدُونَ عَرَضَ الدُّنْيَا وَاللّهُ يُرِيدُ الْآخِرَةَ وَاللّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ |

| ለነቢይ በምድር ላይ እስቲያደክም ድረስ ለእርሱ ምርኮኞች ሊኖሩት አይገባም፡፡ የቅርቢቱን ዓለም ጠፊ ጥቅም ትፈልጋላችሁ፡፡ አላህም መጨረሻይቱን ይሻል፡፡ አላህም አሸናፊ ጥበበኛ ነው፡፡ |
آل الجلالين | ونزل لما أخذوا الفداء من أسرى بدر { ما كان لنبي أن تكون } بالتاء والياء { له أسرى حتى يثخن في الأرض } يبالغ في قتل الكفار { تريدون } أيها المؤمنون { عَرَض الدنيا } حطامها بأخذ الفداء { والله يريد } لكم { الآخرة } أي ثوابها بقتلهم { والله عزيز حكيم } وهذا منسوخ بقوله ( فإما منّا بعد وإما فداءً ) . |
| Ur issefk ara i Nnbi ad isâu imeêbas, alamma pwa$elben di tmurt. Teb$am tukci n ddunit. Öebbi Ib$a laxeôt. Öebbi d Uzmir, d Bab n ûûwab. |
মুহিউদ্দীন খান | নবীর পক্ষে উচিত নয় বন্দীদিগকে নিজের কাছে রাখা, যতক্ষণ না দেশময় প্রচুর রক্তপাত ঘটাবে। তোমরা পার্থিব সম্পদ কামনা কর, অথচ আল্লাহ চান আখেরাত। আর আল্লাহ হচ্ছেন পরাক্রমশালী হেকমতওয়ালা। |
Literal | (It) was not to a prophet that (there) be for him captives/prisoners so that he hardens/exceeds in killing (tyrannizes) in the earth/Planet Earth, you want the present world's enjoyable accessories/vanities , and God wants the end (other life), and God (is) glorious/mighty , wise/judicious. |
Yusuf Ali | It is not fitting for a prophet that he should have prisoners of war until he hath thoroughly subdued the land. Ye look for the temporal goods of this world; but Allah looketh to the Hereafter: And Allah is Exalted in might, Wise. |
Pickthal | It is not for any prophet to have captives until he hath made slaughter in the land. Ye desire the lure of this world and Allah desireth (for you) the Hereafter, and Allah is Mighty, Wise. |

Sarwar | The Prophet is not supposed to take any captives to strengthen his position on the earth. You want worldly gains but God wants the life hereafter for you. God is Majestic and All-wise. |
H/K/Saheeh | It is not for a prophet to have captives [of war] until he inflicts a massacre [upon Allah's enemies] in the land. Some Muslims desire the commodities of this world, but Allah desires [for you] the Hereafter. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise. |
Malik | It is not fit for a Prophet that he should take prisoners of war until he has thoroughly subdued the land. Do you, O followers of Muhammad, desire the temporal goods of this world, while Allah desires for you the hereafter? Allah is Mighty, Wise.[67] |

QXP Shabbir Ahemd** | It is beyond the dignity of a Prophet that he may hold any captives, except temporarily, during warfare. They must be freed at the conclusion of hostilities by way of kindness, for ransom, or by exchange of prisoners of war, and there is no other option to keep them (47:4). You may desire the fleeting gains of this world, but Allah desires for you the good of Eternal Achievement, the life to come. Allah is Mighty, Wise. |
