| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[39:48] | Wabada lahum sayyi-atu makasaboo wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihiyastahzi-oona
|  وبدا لهم سيئات ما كسبوا وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزئون
وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِءُوْن |
| Words | |وبدا - And will become apparent| لهم - to them| سيئات - (the) evils| ما - (of) what| كسبوا - they earned,| وحاق - and will surround| بهم - them| ما - what| كانوا - they used to| به - [in it]| يستهزئون - mock.| |

| ለእነርሱም የሠሩዋቸው መጥፎዎቹ ይገለጹላቸዋል፡፡ በእነርሱም ላይ በእርሱ ያላግጡበት የነበሩት ቅጣት ይሰፍርባቸዋል፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { وبدا لهم سيئات ما كسبوا وحاق } نزل { بهم ما كانوا به يستهزءُون } أي العذاب . |
| Ad asen d banent tucmitin kesben, ad asen innev wayen i$ef ttahan. |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | আর দেখবে, তাদের দুস্কর্মসমূহ এবং যে বিষয়ে তারা ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রুপ করত, তা তাদেরকে ঘিরে নেবে। |
| Literal | And it appeared to them (the) sins/crimes (of) what they earned/acquired ; and what they were with it mocking surrounded/encircled with them. |
| Yusuf Ali | For the evils of their Deeds will confront them, and they will be (completely) encircled by that which they used to mock at! |
| Pickthal | And the evils that they earned will appear unto them, and that whereat they used to scoff will surround them. |
| Arberry | and there would appear to them die evils of that they have earned, and they would be encompassed by that they mocked at. |
| Shakir | And the evil (consequences) of what they wrought shall become plain to them, and the very thing they mocked at shall beset them. |

| Khalifa** | The sinful works they had earned will be shown to them, and the very things they used to mock will come back to haunt them. |
