| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[36:66] | Walaw nashao latamasnaAAala aAAyunihim faistabaqoo alssiratafaanna yubsiroona
|  ولو نشاء لطمسنا على أعينهم فاستبقوا الصراط فأنى يبصرون
وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَى أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَاسْتَبَقُوا الصِّرَاطَ فَأَنَّى يُبْصِرُونَ |
| Words | |ولو - And if| نشاء - We willed,| لطمسنا - We (would have) surely obliterated| على - [over]| أعينهم - their eyes,| فاستبقوا - then they (would) race| الصراط - (to find) the path,| فأنى - then how| يبصرون - (could) they see?| |

| ብንሻም ኖሮ በዐይኖቻቸው ላይ በአበስን ነበር፡፡ መንገድንም (እንደ ልመዳቸው) በተሽቀዳደሙ ነበር፡፡ እንዴትም ያያሉ? |
| آل الجلالين | { ولو نشاء لطمسنا على أعينهم } لأعميناها طمسا { فاستَبَقُوا } ابتدروا { الصراط } الطريق ذاهبين كعادتهم { فأنَّا } فكيف { يبصرون } حينئذ؟ أي لا يبصرون. |

| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | আমি ইচ্ছা করলে তাদের দৃষ্টি শক্তি বিলুপ্ত করে দিতে পারতাম, তখন তারা পথের দিকে দৌড়াতে চাইলে কেমন করে দেখতে পেত! |
| Literal | And if We will/want We would have wiped out/destroyed on their eyes/sights, so they raced/surpassed/preceded the road/way, so how (do) they see/understand ? |

According to Ibn Abbas as quoted by Tabari, the phrase anna yubsirun signifies "how could they perceive the truth".] |
