| 1 [2:219] | Yas-aloonaka AAani alkhamri waalmaysiriqul feehima ithmun kabeerun wamanafiAAu lilnnasiwa-ithmuhuma akbaru min nafAAihima wayas-aloonaka mathayunfiqoona quli alAAafwa kathalika yubayyinu Allahulakumu al-ayati laAAallakum tatafakkaroona |  يسألونك عن الخمر والميسر قل فيهما إثم كبير ومنافع للناس وإثمهما أكبر من نفعهما ويسألونك ماذا ينفقون قل العفو كذلك يبين الله لكم الآيات لعلكم تتفكرونيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْخَمْرِ وَالْمَيْسِرِ قُلْ فِيهِمَا إِثْمٌ كَبِيرٌ وَمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَإِثْمُهُمَآ أَكْبَرُ مِن نَّفْعِهِمَا وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنفِقُونَ قُلِ الْعَفْوَ كَذَلِكَ يُبيِّنُ اللّهُ لَكُمُ الْآيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَفَكَّرُونَ | |||||
| Words | |يسألونك - They ask you| عن - about| الخمر - [the] intoxicants| والميسر - and [the] games of chance| قل - Say,| فيهما - "In both of them| إثم - (is) a sin| كبير - great,| ومنافع - and (some) benefits| للناس - for [the] people.| وإثمهما - But sin of both of them| أكبر - (is) greater| من - than| نفعهما - (the) benefit of (the) two."| ويسألونك - And they ask you| ماذا - what| ينفقون - they (should) spend.| قل - Say,| العفو - "The surplus."| كذلك - Thus| يبين - makes clear| الله - Allah| لكم - to you| الآيات - [the] Verses| لعلكم - so that you may| تتفكرون - ponder,| | ||||||
| 2 [5:90] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooinnama alkhamru waalmaysiru waal-ansabuwaal-azlamu rijsun min AAamali alshshaytanifaijtaniboohu laAAallakum tuflihoona | يا أيها الذين آمنوا إنما الخمر والميسر والأنصاب والأزلام رجس من عمل الشيطان فاجتنبوه لعلكم تفلحون يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ وَالْأَنصَابُ وَالْأَزْلاَمُ رِجْسٌ مِّنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ | |||||
| Words | |يا - O| أيها - O you| الذين - who| آمنوا - believe!| إنما - Verily| الخمر - the intoxicants| والميسر - and [the] games of chance| والأنصاب - and (sacrifices at) altars| والأزلام - and divining arrows| رجس - (are an) abomination| من - from| عمل - (the) work| الشيطان - (of) the Shaitaan,| فاجتنبوه - so avoid it| لعلكم - so that you may| تفلحون - (be) successful.| | ||||||
| 3 [5:91] | Innama yureedu alshshaytanuan yooqiAAa baynakumu alAAadawata waalbaghdaafee alkhamri waalmaysiri wayasuddakum AAan thikriAllahi waAAani alssalati fahal antummuntahoona | إنما يريد الشيطان أن يوقع بينكم العداوة والبغضاء في الخمر والميسر ويصدكم عن ذكر الله وعن الصلاة فهل أنتم منتهون إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَن يُوقِعَ بَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ فِي الْخَمْرِ وَالْمَيْسِرِ وَيَصُدَّكُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ اللّهِ وَعَنِ الصَّلاَةِ فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّنتَهُونَ | |||||
| Words | |إنما - Only| يريد - intends| الشيطان - the Shaitaan| أن - to| يوقع - cause| بينكم - between you| العداوة - [the] enmity| والبغضاء - and [the] hatred| في - through| الخمر - intoxicants| والميسر - and gambling,| ويصدكم - and hinders you| عن - from| ذكر - (the) remembrance| الله - (of) Allah| وعن - and from| الصلاة - the prayer.| فهل - So will| أنتم - you| منتهون - (be) the ones who abstain?| | ||||||
