| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[35:42] | Waaqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihimla-in jaahum natheerun layakoonunna ahda minihda al-omami falamma jaahum natheerunma zadahum illa nufooran
|  وأقسموا بالله جهد أيمانهم لئن جاءهم نذير ليكونن أهدى من إحدى الأمم فلما جاءهم نذير ما زادهم إلا نفورا
وَأَقْسَمُوا بِاللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ لَئِن جَاءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌ لَّيَكُونُنَّ أَهْدَى مِنْ إِحْدَى الْأُمَمِ فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌ مَّا زَادَهُمْ إِلَّا نُفُورًا |
| Words | |وأقسموا - And they swore| بالله - by Allah| جهد - (the) strongest| أيمانهم - (of) their oaths| لئن - that if| جاءهم - came to them| نذير - a warner,| ليكونن - surely, they would be| أهدى - more guided| من - than| إحدى - any| الأمم - (of) the nations.| فلما - But when| جاءهم - came to them| نذير - a warner,| ما - not| زادهم - it increased them| إلا - but| نفورا - (in) aversion,| |
