| 1 [4:153] | Yas-aluka ahlu alkitabi an tunazzilaAAalayhim kitaban mina alssama-i faqadsaaloo moosa akbara min thalika faqaloo arinaAllaha jahratan faakhathat-humu alssaAAiqatubithulmihim thumma ittakhathoo alAAijla minbaAAdi ma jaat-humu albayyinatu faAAafawnaAAan thalika waatayna moosa sultananmubeenan |  يسألك أهل الكتاب أن تنزل عليهم كتابا من السماء فقد سألوا موسى أكبر من ذلك فقالوا أرنا الله جهرة فأخذتهم الصاعقة بظلمهم ثم اتخذوا العجل من بعد ما جاءتهم البينات فعفونا عن ذلك وآتينا موسى سلطانا مبينايَسْأَلُكَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَن تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَابًا مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ فَقَدْ سَأَلُواْ مُوسَى أَكْبَرَ مِن ذَلِكَ فَقَالُواْ أَرِنَا اللّهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذُواْ الْعِجْلَ مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَاتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَن ذَلِكَ وَآتَيْنَا مُوسَى سُلْطَانًا مُّبِينًا | |||||
| Words | |يسألك - Ask you| أهل - (the) People| الكتاب - (of) the Book| أن - that| تنزل - you bring down| عليهم - to them| كتابا - a book| من - from| السماء - the heaven.| فقد - Then indeed,| سألوا - they (had) asked| موسى - Musa| أكبر - greater| من - than| ذلك - that| فقالوا - for they said,| أرنا - "Show us| الله - Allah| جهرة - manifestly,"| فأخذتهم - so struck them| الصاعقة - the thunderbolt| بظلمهم - for their wrongdoing.| ثم - Then| اتخذوا - they took| العجل - the calf (for worship)| من - from| بعد - after| ما - [what]| جاءتهم - came to them| البينات - the clear proofs,| فعفونا - then We forgave them| عن - for| ذلك - that.| وآتينا - And We gave| موسى - Musa| سلطانا - an authority| مبينا - clear.| | ||||||
| 2 [7:78] | Faakhathat-humu alrrajfatu faasbahoofee darihim jathimeena | فأخذتهم الرجفة فأصبحوا في دارهم جاثمين فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُواْ فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ | |||||
| Words | |فأخذتهم - So seized them| الرجفة - the earthquake,| فأصبحوا - then they became| في - in| دارهم - their homes| جاثمين - fallen prone.| | ||||||
| 3 [7:91] | Faakhathat-humu alrrajfatu faasbahoofee darihim jathimeena | فأخذتهم الرجفة فأصبحوا في دارهم جاثمين فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُواْ فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ | |||||

| 4 [15:73] | Faakhathat-humu alssayhatumushriqeena | فأخذتهم الصيحة مشرقين فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ | |||||

| 6 [23:41] | Faakhathat-humu alssayhatubialhaqqi fajaAAalnahum ghuthaanfabuAAdan lilqawmi alththalimeena | فأخذتهم الصيحة بالحق فجعلناهم غثاء فبعدا للقوم الظالمين فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ بِالْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ غُثَاءً فَبُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ | |||||
| Words | |فأخذتهم - So seized them| الصيحة - the awful cry| بالحق - in truth,| فجعلناهم - and We made them| غثاء - (as) rubbish of dead leaves.| فبعدا - So away| للقوم - with the people -| الظالمين - the wrongdoers.| | ||||||
| 7 [29:37] | Fakaththaboohu faakhathat-humualrrajfatu faasbahoo fee darihim jathimeena | فكذبوه فأخذتهم الرجفة فأصبحوا في دارهم جاثمين فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ | |||||
| Words | |فكذبوه - But they denied him,| فأخذتهم - so seized them| الرجفة - the earthquake,| فأصبحوا - and they became| في - in| دارهم - their home| جاثمين - fallen prone.| | ||||||
| 8 [40:5] | Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohinwaal-ahzabu min baAAdihim wahammat kulluommatin birasoolihim liya/khuthoohu wajadaloo bialbatililiyudhidoo bihi alhaqqa faakhathtuhumfakayfa kana AAiqabi | كذبت قبلهم قوم نوح والأحزاب من بعدهم وهمت كل أمة برسولهم ليأخذوه وجادلوا بالباطل ليدحضوا به الحق فأخذتهم فكيف كان عقاب كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَالْأَحْزَابُ مِن بَعْدِهِمْ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ وَجَادَلُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا بِهِ الْحَقَّ فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ | |||||
| Words | |كذبت - Denied| قبلهم - before them| قوم - (the) people| نوح - (of) Nuh| والأحزاب - and the factions| من - after them,| بعدهم - after them,| وهمت - and plotted| كل - every| أمة - nation| برسولهم - against their Messenger,| ليأخذوه - to seize him,| وجادلوا - and they disputed| بالباطل - by falsehood| ليدحضوا - to refute| به - thereby| الحق - the truth.| فأخذتهم - So I seized them.| فكيف - Then how| كان - was| عقاب - My penalty?| | ||||||
| 9 [41:17] | Waamma thamoodu fahadaynahumfaistahabboo alAAama AAala alhudafaakhathat-hum saAAiqatu alAAathabi alhoonibima kanoo yaksiboona | وأما ثمود فهديناهم فاستحبوا العمى على الهدى فأخذتهم صاعقة العذاب الهون بما كانوا يكسبون وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيْنَاهُمْ فَاسْتَحَبُّوا الْعَمَى عَلَى الْهُدَى فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَاعِقَةُ الْعَذَابِ الْهُونِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ | |||||
| Words | |وأما - And as for| ثمود - Thamud,| فهديناهم - We guided them,| فاستحبوا - but they preferred| العمى - [the] blindness| على - over| الهدى - the guidance,| فأخذتهم - so seized them| صاعقة - a thunderbolt| العذاب - (of) the punishment| الهون - humiliating,| بما - for what| كانوا - they used to| يكسبون - earn.| | ||||||
| 10 [51:44] | FaAAataw AAan amri rabbihim faakhathat-humualssaAAiqatu wahum yanthuroona | فعتوا عن أمر ربهم فأخذتهم الصاعقة وهم ينظرون فَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ | |||||
| Words | |فعتوا - But they rebelled| عن - against| أمر - (the) Command| ربهم - (of) their Lord,| فأخذتهم - so seized them| الصاعقة - the thunderbolt| وهم - while they| ينظرون - were looking.| | ||||||
