بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

1 [17:57] | Ola-ika allatheena yadAAoonayabtaghoona ila rabbihimu alwaseelata ayyuhum aqrabuwayarjoona rahmatahu wayakhafoona AAathabahuinna AAathaba rabbika kana mahthooran
| أولئك الذين يدعون يبتغون إلى ربهم الوسيلة أيهم أقرب ويرجون رحمته ويخافون عذابه إن عذاب ربك كان محذورا أُولَـئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَى رَبِّهِمُ الْوَسِيلَةَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ وَيَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتَهُ وَيَخَافُونَ عَذَابَهُ إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ كَانَ مَحْذُورًا |
Words | |أولئك - Those| الذين - whom| يدعون - they call,| يبتغون - seek| إلى - to| ربهم - their Lord| الوسيلة - the means of access,| أيهم - which of them| أقرب - (is) nearest,| ويرجون - and they hope| رحمته - (for) His mercy| ويخافون - and fear| عذابه - His punishment.| إن - Indeed,| عذاب - (the) punishment| ربك - (of) your Lord| كان - is| محذورا - (ever) feared.| |

| እነዚያ እነርሱ የሚግገዟቸው ማንኛቸውም (ወደ አላህ) በጣም ቀራቢያቸው ወደ ጌታቸው መቃረቢያን (ሥራ) ይፈልጋሉ፡፡ እዝነቱንም ይከጅላሉ፡፡ ቅጣቱንም ይፈራሉ፡፡ የጌታህ ቅጣት የሚፈራ ነውና፡፡ |
آل الجلالين | { أولئك الذين يدعونـ } ـهم آلهة { يبتغون } يطلبون { إلى ربهم الوسيلة } القربة بالطاعة { أيهم } بدل من واو يبتغون أي يبتغيها الذي هو { أقرب } إليه فكيف بغيره { ويرجون رحمته ويخافون عذابه } كغيرهم فكيف تدعونهم آلهة { إن عذاب ربك كان محذوراً } . |
| Wigi u$uô la pnujun, la pqelliben ppawil ara ten isqeôben nezzeh ar Mass nnsen. Ssaramen aêunu S, ppagwaden aâaqeb iS". Ih, aâaqeb n Mass ik, issagwad. |
মুহিউদ্দীন খান | যাদেরকে তারা আহবান করে, তারা নিজেরাই তো তাদের পালনকর্তার নৈকট্য লাভের জন্য মধ্যস্থ তালাশ করে যে, তাদের মধ্যে কে নৈকট্যশীল। তারা তাঁর রহমতের আশা করে এবং তাঁর শাস্তিকে ভয় করে। নিশ্চয় আপনার পালনকর্তার শাস্তি ভয়াবহ। |
Literal | Those are those who call, they desire the means/way of approach to their Lord, which of them (is) nearer/closer, and they hope/expect His mercy, and they fear His torture, that your Lord's torture was/is cautioned/warned/feared of. |
Yusuf Ali | Those whom they call upon do desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord, - even those who are nearest: they hope for His Mercy and fear His Wrath: for the Wrath of thy Lord is something to take heed of. |
Pickthal | Those unto whom they cry seek the way of approach to their Lord, which of them shall be the nearest; they hope for His mercy and they fear His doom. Lo! the doom of thy Lord is to be shunned. |

Khalifa** | Even the idols that they implore are seeking the ways and means towards their Lord. They pray for His mercy, and fear His retribution. Surely, the retribution of your Lord is dreadful. |
Hilali/Khan** | Those whom they call upon (like Iesa (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary), Uzair (Ezra), angel, etc.) desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord (Allah), as to which of them should be the nearest and they (Iesa (Jesus), Uzair (Ezra), angels, etc.) hope for His Mercy and fear His Torment. Verily, the Torment of your Lord is something to be afraid of! |
