| 1 [2:74] | Thumma qasat quloobukum min baAAdi thalikafahiya kaalhijarati aw ashaddu qaswatanwa-inna mina alhijarati lama yatafajjaruminhu al-anharu wa-inna minha lamayashshaqqaqu fayakhruju minhu almao wa-inna minhalama yahbitu min khashyati Allahi wamaAllahu bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona |  ثم قست قلوبكم من بعد ذلك فهي كالحجارة أو أشد قسوة وإن من الحجارة لما يتفجر منه الأنهار وإن منها لما يشقق فيخرج منه الماء وإن منها لما يهبط من خشية الله وما الله بغافل عما تعملونثُمَّ قَسَتْ قُلُوبُكُم مِّنْ بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ فَهِيَ كَالْحِجَارَةِ أَوْ أَشَدُّ قَسْوَةً وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْحِجَارَةِ لَمَا يَتَفَجَّرُ مِنْهُ الأَنْهَارُ وَإِنَّ مِنْهَا لَمَا يَشَّقَّقُ فَيَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ الْمَاءُ وَإِنَّ مِنْهَا لَمَا يَهْبِطُ مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللّهِ وَمَا اللّهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ | |||||
| Words | |ثم - Then| قست - hardened| قلوبكم - your hearts| من - from| بعد - after| ذلك - that| فهي - so they| كالحجارة - (became) like [the] stones| أو - or| أشد - stronger| قسوة - (in) hardness.| وإن - And indeed,| من - from| الحجارة - the stones| لما - certainly (there are some) which| يتفجر - gush forth| منه - from it| الأنهار - [the] rivers,| وإن - and indeed,| منها - from them| لما - certainly (there are some) which| يشقق - split,| فيخرج - so comes out| منه - from it| الماء - [the] water,| وإن - and indeed,| منها - from them| لما - certainly (there are some) which| يهبط - fall down| من - from| خشية - fear| الله - (of) Allah.| وما - And not| الله - (is) Allah| بغافل - unaware| عما - of what| تعملون - you do.| | ||||||
| 2 [22:45] | Fakaayyin min qaryatin ahlaknahawahiya thalimatun fahiya khawiyatunAAala AAurooshiha wabi/rin muAAattalatinwaqasrin masheedin | فكأين من قرية أهلكناها وهي ظالمة فهي خاوية على عروشها وبئر معطلة وقصر مشيد فَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَاهَا وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ فَهِيَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَى عُرُوشِهَا وَبِئْرٍ مُّعَطَّلَةٍ وَقَصْرٍ مَّشِيدٍ | |||||
| Words | |فكأين - And how many| من - of| قرية - a township| أهلكناها - We have destroyed it,| وهي - while it| ظالمة - was doing wrong,| فهي - so it| خاوية - fell| على - on| عروشها - its roofs,| وبئر - and well| معطلة - abandoned,| وقصر - and castle| مشيد - lofty.| | ||||||
| 3 [25:5] | Waqaloo asateeru al-awwaleenaiktatabaha fahiya tumla AAalayhi bukratan waaseelan | وقالوا أساطير الأولين اكتتبها فهي تملى عليه بكرة وأصيلا وَقَالُوا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ اكْتَتَبَهَا فَهِيَ تُمْلَى عَلَيْهِ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا | |||||
| Words | |وقالوا - And they say,| أساطير - "Tales| الأولين - (of) the former people| اكتتبها - which he has had written| فهي - and they| تملى - are dictated| عليه - to him| بكرة - morning| وأصيلا - and evening."| | ||||||
| 4 [36:8] | Inna jaAAalna fee aAAnaqihimaghlalan fahiya ila al-athqani fahummuqmahoona | إنا جعلنا في أعناقهم أغلالا فهي إلى الأذقان فهم مقمحون إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلاَلاً فَهِيَ إِلَى الْأَذْقَانِ فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ | |||||
| Words | |إنا - Indeed, We| جعلنا - [We] have placed| في - on| أعناقهم - their necks| أغلالا - iron collars,| فهي - and they| إلى - (are up) to| الأذقان - the chins,| فهم - so they| مقمحون - (are with) heads raised up.| | ||||||
| 5 [69:16] | Wainshaqqati alssamaofahiya yawma-ithin wahiyatun | وانشقت السماء فهي يومئذ واهية وَانشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ | |||||
| Words | |وانشقت - And will split| السماء - the heaven,| فهي - so it| يومئذ - (is on) that Day| واهية - frail.| | ||||||
