بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

1 [4:20] | Wa-in aradtumu istibdala zawjin makanazawjin waataytum ihdahunna qintaranfala ta/khuthoo minhu shay-an ata/khuthoonahubuhtanan wa-ithman mubeenan
| وإن أردتم استبدال زوج مكان زوج وآتيتم إحداهن قنطارا فلا تأخذوا منه شيئا أتأخذونه بهتانا وإثما مبينا وَإِنْ أَرَدتُّمُ اسْتِبْدَالَ زَوْجٍ مَّكَانَ زَوْجٍ وَآتَيْتُمْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ قِنطَارًا فَلاَ تَأْخُذُواْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا أَتَأْخُذُونَهُ بُهْتَاناً وَإِثْماً مُّبِيناً |
Words | |وإن - And if| أردتم - you intend| استبدال - replacing| زوج - a wife| مكان - (in) place| زوج - (of) a wife| وآتيتم - and you have given| إحداهن - one of them| قنطارا - heap (of gold)| فلا - then (do) not| تأخذوا - take away| منه - from it| شيئا - anything.| أتأخذونه - Would you take it| بهتانا - (by) slander| وإثما - and a sin| مبينا - open?| |

| በሚስትም ስፍራ ሚስትን ለመለወጥ ብትፈልጉ ለአንደኛይቱ (ለምትፈታው) ብዙን ገንዘብ የሰጣችኋት ስትኾኑ ከርሱ ምንንም አትውሰዱ፡፡ በመበደልና ግልጽ በኾነ ኀጢአት ትወስዱታላችሁን |
آل الجلالين | { وإن أردتم استبدال زوج مكان زوج } أي أخذها بدلها بأن طلقتموها { و } قد { آتيتم إحداهن } أي الزوجات { قنطارا } مالا كثيرا صداقا { فلا تأخذوا منه شيئا أتأخُذُونهُ بهتانا } ظلما { وإثما مبينا } بينا ونصبهما على الحال، والاستفهامُ للتوبيخ وللإنكار في قوله . |
| Ma teb$am a pbedlem tameîîut s tayev, u tefkam tuççit i yiwet, ur as tekkset acemma. Ma tekksem, d ayen n dir u d abekkav n ûûeê. |
মুহিউদ্দীন খান | যদি তোমরা এক স্ত্রীর স্থলে অন্য স্ত্রী পরিবর্তন করতে ইচ্ছা কর এবং তাদের একজনকে প্রচুর ধন-সম্পদ প্রদান করে থাক, তবে তা থেকে কিছুই ফেরত গ্রহণ করো না। তোমরা কি তা অন্যায়ভাবে ও প্রকাশ্য গোনাহর মাধ্যমে গ্রহণ করবে? |
Literal | And if you wanted exchanging (to exchange) a spouse (in) place (of a) spouse, and you (P) gave one of them (F) a ton , so do not take from it a thing, do you take it wrongfully/slanderfully, and an evident sin/crime? |
Yusuf Ali | But if ye decide to take one wife in place of another, even if ye had given the latter a whole treasure for dower, Take not the least bit of it back: Would ye take it by slander and manifest wrong? |
Pickthal | And if ye wish to exchange one wife for another and ye have given unto one of them a sum of money (however great), take nothing from it. Would ye take it by the way of calumny and open wrong? |
Arberry | And if you desire to exchange a wife in place of another, and you have given to one a hundredweight, take of it nothing. What, will you take it by way of calumny and manifest sin? |
Shakir | And if you wish to have (one) wife in place of another and you have given one of them a heap of gold, then take not from it anything; would you take it by slandering (her) and (doing her) manifest wrong? |
Sarwar | If you want to divorce a woman so that you can marry another, do not take back the dowry which you had paid even if what you paid was a large amount of gold. To do this is a slanderous act and a manifest sin. |
H/K/Saheeh | But if you want to replace one wife with another and you have given one of them a great amount [in gifts], do not take [back] from it anything. Would you take it in injustice and manifest sin? |
