| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[37:103] | Falamma aslama watallahuliljabeeni
|  فلما أسلما وتله للجبين
فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ |
| Words | |فلما - Then when| أسلما - both of them had submitted| وتله - and he put him down| للجبين - upon his forehead,| |

| ሁለቱም ትዕዛዙን በተቀበሉና በግንባሩም ጎን ላይ በጣለው ጊዜ (የሆነው ሆነ)፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { فلما أسلما } خضعا وانقادا لأمر الله تعالى { وتله للجبين } صرعه عليه، ولكل إنسان جبينان بينهما الجبهة وكان ذلك بمنى، وأمرَّ السكين على حلقه فلم تعمل شيئا بمانع من القدرة الإلهية . |

| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | যখন পিতা-পুত্র উভয়েই আনুগত্য প্রকাশ করল এবং ইব্রাহীম তাকে যবেহ করার জন্যে শায়িত করল। |

As pointed out repeatedly in these notes, the verb aslama signifies, in Quranic usage, "he surrendered himself to God", or "to God's will", even if there is no express mention of God; hence, the dual form aslama occurring in the above verse might, on the face of it, have this meaning as well. Since, however, the sequence clearly shows that it was not God's will that Ishmael should be sacrificed, his and his father's "self-surrender to God's will" can have in this context only a purely subjective meaning - namely "to what they thought to be the will of God".] and [Abraham] had laid him down on his face, |
