بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

1 [28:58] | Wakam ahlakna min qaryatin batiratmaAAeeshataha fatilka masakinuhum lam tuskan minbaAAdihim illa qaleelan wakunna nahnu alwaritheena
| وكم أهلكنا من قرية بطرت معيشتها فتلك مساكنهم لم تسكن من بعدهم إلا قليلا وكنا نحن الوارثين وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيشَتَهَا فَتِلْكَ مَسَاكِنُهُمْ لَمْ تُسْكَن مِّن بَعْدِهِمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا وَكُنَّا نَحْنُ الْوَارِثِينَ |
Words | |وكم - And how many| أهلكنا - We have destroyed| من - of| قرية - a town| بطرت - which exulted,| معيشتها - (in) its means of livelihood.| فتلك - And these| مساكنهم - (are) their dwellings| لم - not| تسكن - have been inhabited| من - after them| بعدهم - after them| إلا - except| قليلا - a little.| وكنا - And indeed, [We]| نحن - We| الوارثين - (are) the inheritors.| |

| ከከተማም ኑሮዋን (ምቾቷን) የካደችን (ከተማ) ያጠፋናት ብዙ ናት፡፡ እነዚህም ከእነሱ በኋላ ጥቂት ጊዜ እንጅ ያልተኖረባቸው ሲኾኑ መኖሪያዎቻቸው ናቸው፡፡ እኛም (ከእነርሱ) ወራሾች ነበርን፡፡ |
آل الجلالين | { وكم أهلكنا من قرية بطرت معيشتها } عيشها وأريد بالقرية أهلها { فتلك مساكنهم لم تسكن من بعدهم إلا قليلا } للمارة يوماً أو بعضه { وكنا نحن الوارثين } منهم. |

মুহিউদ্দীন খান | আমি অনেক জনপদ ধবংস করেছি, যার অধিবাসীরা তাদের জীবন যাপনে মদমত্ত ছিল। এগুলোই এখন তাদের ঘর-বাড়ী। তাদের পর এগুলোতে মানুষ সামান্যই বসবাস করেছে। অবশেষে আমিই মালিক রয়েছি। |
Literal | And how many We perished/destroyed from a village/urban city its life/livelihood/sustenance became unappreciated/undeserved (they were ungrateful for their livelihood), so those are their residences, did not get inhabited from after them, except a few/little , and We were, We, the heirs/inheritants. |
Yusuf Ali | And how many populations We destroyed, which exulted in their life (of ease and plenty)! now those habitations of theirs, after them, are deserted,- All but a (miserable) few! and We are their heirs! |
Pickthal | And how many a community have We destroyed that was thankless for its means of livelihood! And yonder are their dwellings, which have not been inhabited after them save a little. And We, even We, were the inheritors. |
