1 [27:34] | Qalat inna almulooka ithadakhaloo qaryatan afsadooha wajaAAaloo aAAizzata ahlihaathillatan wakathalika yafAAaloona
| قالت إن الملوك إذا دخلوا قرية أفسدوها وجعلوا أعزة أهلها أذلة وكذلك يفعلون قَالَتْ إِنَّ الْمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُوا قَرْيَةً أَفْسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُوا أَعِزَّةَ أَهْلِهَا أَذِلَّةً وَكَذَلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ |
Words | |قالت - She said,| إن - "Indeed,| الملوك - the kings,| إذا - when| دخلوا - they enter| قرية - a town| أفسدوها - they ruin it| وجعلوا - and make| أعزة - (the) most honorable| أهلها - (of) its people| أذلة - (the) lowest.| وكذلك - And thus| يفعلون - they do.| |

| (እርሷም) አለች «ንጉሦች ከተማን (በኀይል) በገቡባት ጊዜ ያበላሹዋታል፡፡ የተከበሩ ሰዎችዋንም ወራዶች ያደርጋሉ፡፡ እንደዚሁም (እነዚህ) ይሠራሉ፡፡ |
آل الجلالين | { قالت إن الملوك إذا دخلوا قريةً أفسدوها } بالتخريب { وجعلوا أعزة أهلها أذلة وكذلك يفعلون } أي: مرسلو الكتاب. |
| Tenna: "s tidep, igeldan ssefsaden tamdint ara kecmen. Sdullun imdanen is lâali. Akka ay xeddmen. |
মুহিউদ্দীন খান | সে বলল, রাজা বাদশারা যখন কোন জনপদে প্রবেশ করে, তখন তাকে বিপর্যস্ত করে দেয় এবং সেখানকার সম্ভ্রান্ত ব্যক্তিবর্গকে অপদস্থ করে। তারাও এরূপই করবে। |
Literal | She said: "That truly the kings if they entered a village/urban city they corrupted it and they made/put its more dignified/honoured people , humiliated/disgraced , and as/like that they make/do ." |
Yusuf Ali | She said: "Kings, when they enter a country, despoil it, and make the noblest of its people its meanest thus do they behave. |
Pickthal | She said: Lo! kings, when they enter a township, ruin it and make the honour of its people shame. Thus will they do. |

The term muluk, lit., "kings", may he understood to denote also persons who, while not being "kings" in the conventional sense of this word, wrongfully seize and forcibly hold absolute power over their "subjects".] and turn the noblest of its people into the most abject. And this is the way they [always] behave? [Thus, the Queen of Sheba rules out force as a suitable method for dealing with Solomon. Implied in her statement is the Quranic condemnation of all political power obtained through violence (anwatan) inasmuch as it is bound to give rise to oppression, suffering and moral corruption.] |
