[2:226] | Lillatheena yu/loona min nisa-ihimtarabbusu arbaAAati ashhurin fa-in faoo fa-inna Allahaghafoorun raheemun
|  للذين يؤلون من نسائهم تربص أربعة أشهر فإن فاءوا فإن الله غفور رحيم
لِّلَّذِينَ يُؤْلُونَ مِن نِّسَآئِهِمْ تَرَبُّصُ أَرْبَعَةِ أَشْهُرٍ فَإِنْ فَآؤُوا فَإِنَّ اللّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ |

| ለእነዚያ ከሴቶቻቸው (ላይቀርቡ) ለሚምሉት አራትን ወሮች መጠበቅ አለባቸው፡፡ (ከመሐላቸው) ቢመለሱም አላህ መሓሪ አዛኝ ነው፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { للذين يؤلون من نسائهم } أي يحلفون أن لا يجامعوهن { تربص } انتظار { أربعة أشهر فإن فاءُوا } رجعوا فيها أو بعدها عن اليمين إلى الوطء { فإن الله غفور } لهم ما أتوه من ضرر المرأة بالحلف { رحيم } بهم . |

| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | যারা নিজেদের স্ত্রীদের নিকট গমন করবেনা বলে কসম খেয়ে বসে তাদের জন্য চার মাসের অবকাশ রয়েছে অতঃপর যদি পারস্পরিক মিল-মিশ করে নেয়, তবে আল্লাহ ক্ষামাকারী দয়ালু। |
| Literal | For those who swear away from their women (wives), waiting four months, so if they returned , so that God (is) forgiving, most merciful. |
| Yusuf Ali | For those who take an oath for abstention from their wives, a waiting for four months is ordained; if then they return, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. |

Similar rules apply for women, since they have rights and obligations as men have, and since no man is permitted to forcibly keep his wife in wedlock against her will as stated later in the Book ((2:228), (4:19), (4:21), (4:34), (7:189)). |
