| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[2:179] | Walakum fee alqisasi hayatunya olee al-albabi laAAallakum tattaqoona
|  ولكم في القصاص حياة يا أولي الألباب لعلكم تتقون
وَلَكُمْ فِي الْقِصَاصِ حَيَاةٌ يَاْ أُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ |
| Words | |ولكم - And for you| في - in| القصاص - the legal retribution| حياة - (is) life,| يا - O| أولي - O men| الألباب - (of) understanding!| لعلكم - So that you may| تتقون - (become) righteous.| |

| ለእናንተም ባለ አእምሮዎች ሆይ! በማመሳሰል (ሕግ) ውስጥ ሕይወት አላችሁ፡፡ ትጠነቀቁ ዘንድ (ገዳይን መግደል ተደነገገላችሁ)፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { ولكم في القصاص حياة } أي بقاء عظيم { يا أولي الألباب } ذوي العقول لأن القاتل إذا علم أنه يُقتل ارتدع فأحيا نفسه ومن أراد قتله فشرع { لعلكم تتقون } القتل مخافة القود . |

| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | হে বুদ্ধিমানগণ! কেসাসের মধ্যে তোমাদের জন্যে জীবন রয়েছে, যাতে তোমরা সাবধান হতে পার। |
| Literal | And for you in the revenge (is) life/growth , you (owners) of the pure minds/hearts, maybe you fear and obey (God). |
| Yusuf Ali | In the Law of Equality there is (saving of) Life to you, o ye men of understanding; that ye may restrain yourselves. |
| Pickthal | And there is life for you in retaliation, O men of understanding, that ye may ward off (evil). |
