[2:16] | Ola-ika allatheena ishtarawooalddalalata bialhuda famarabihat tijaratuhum wama kanoomuhtadeena
|  أولئك الذين اشتروا الضلالة بالهدى فما ربحت تجارتهم وما كانوا مهتدين
أُوْلَـئِكَ الَّذِينَ اشْتَرَوُاْ الضَّلاَلَةَ بِالْهُدَى فَمَا رَبِحَت تِّجَارَتُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُهْتَدِينَ |
| Words | |أولئك - Those| الذين - (are) the ones who| اشتروا - bought| الضلالة - [the] astraying| بالهدى - for [the] guidance.| فما - So not| ربحت - profited| تجارتهم - their commerce| وما - and not| كانوا - were they| مهتدين - guided-ones.| |

| እነዚህ እነዚያ ስህተትን በቅንነት የገዙ ናቸው፡፡ ንግዳቸውም አላተረፈችም፤ ቀጥተኞችም አልኾኑም፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { أولئك الذين اشتروا الضلالة بالهدى } أي استبدلوها به { فما ربحت تجارتهم } أي ما ربحوا فيها بل خسروا لمصيرهم إلي النار المؤبدة عليهم { وما كانوا مهتدين } فيما فعلوا. |

| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | তারা সে সমস্ত লোক, যারা হেদায়েতের বিনিময়ে গোমরাহী খরিদ করে। বস্তুতঃ তারা তাদের এ ব্যবসায় লাভবান হতে পারেনি এবং তারা হেদায়েতও লাভ করতে পারেনি। |
| Literal | Those are those who bought/volunteered the misguidance with the guidance, so their commercial trade/buying and selling did not profit/gain, and they were not guided. |
| Yusuf Ali | These are they who have bartered Guidance for error: But their traffic is profitless, and they have lost true direction, |
| Pickthal | These are they who purchase error at the price of guidance, so their commerce doth not prosper, neither are they guided. |
| Arberry | Those are they that have bought error at the price of guidance, and their commerce has not profited them, and they are not right-guided. |
| Shakir | These are they who buy error for the right direction, so their bargain shall bring no gain, nor are they the followers of the right direction. |
