1 [9:90] | Wajaa almuAAaththiroona minaal-aAArabi liyu/thana lahum waqaAAada allatheenakathaboo Allaha warasoolahu sayuseebu allatheenakafaroo minhum AAathabun aleemun
| وجاء المعذرون من الأعراب ليؤذن لهم وقعد الذين كذبوا الله ورسوله سيصيب الذين كفروا منهم عذاب أليم وَجَاءَ الْمُعَذِّرُونَ مِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ لِيُؤْذَنَ لَهُمْ وَقَعَدَ الَّذِينَ كَذَبُواْ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ سَيُصِيبُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ |
Words | |وجاء - And came| المعذرون - the ones who make excuses| من - of| الأعراب - the bedouins,| ليؤذن - that permission be granted| لهم - to them,| وقعد - and sat,| الذين - those who| كذبوا - lied| الله - (to) Allah| ورسوله - and His Messenger.| سيصيب - Will strike| الذين - those who| كفروا - disbelieved| منهم - among them| عذاب - a punishment| أليم - painful.| |

| ከአዕራቦችም ይቅርታ ፈላጊዎቹ ለእነሱ እንዲፈቀድላቸው መጡ፡፡ እነዚያ አላህንና መልክተኛውን የዋሹትም ተቀመጡ፡፡ ከነሱ እነዚያን የካዱትን አሳማሚ ቅጣት በእርግጥ ይነካቸዋል፡፡ |
آل الجلالين | { وجاء المعذِّرون } بإدغام التاء في الأصل في الدال أي المعتذرون بمعنى المعذورين وقرئ به { من الأعراب } إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم { ليؤذن لهم } في القعود لعذرهم فأذن لهم { وقعد الذين كذبوا الله ورسوله } في ادعاء الإيمان من منافقي الأعراب عن المجيء للاعتذار { سيصيب الذين كفروا منهم عذاب أليم } . |
| Wid id iufan ssebba, seg waâôaben n ucluê, usan d, ad asen ifk tsriê. Wid iskaddben Öebbi akked Umazan iS, qqimen. Wid ijehlen, segsen, ad sâaddin aâaqeb aqeôêan. |
মুহিউদ্দীন খান | আর ছলনাকারী বেদুঈন লোকেরা এলো, যাতে তাদের অব্যাহতি লাভ হতে পারে এবং নিবৃত্ত থাকতে পারে তাদেরই যারা আল্লাহ ও রসূলের সাথে মিথ্যা বলে ছিল। এবার তাদের উপর শীগ্রই আসবে বেদনাদায়ক আযাব যারা কাফের। |
Literal | And the apologizers/excuse givers from the Arabs came to be permitted/allowed to them, and those who denied God and His messenger sat/remained behind , those who disbelieved from them a painful torture will strike/hit (them). |
Yusuf Ali | And there were, among the desert Arabs (also), men who made excuses and came to claim exemption; and those who were false to Allah and His Messenger (merely) sat inactive. Soon will a grievous penalty seize the Unbelievers among them. |
Pickthal | And those among the wandering Arabs who had an excuse came in order that permission might be granted them. And those who lied to Allah and His messenger sat at home. A painful doom will fall on those of them who disbelieve. |
Arberry | And the Bedouins came with their excuses, asking for leave; those who lied to God and His Messenger tarried; there shall befall the unbelievers of them a painful chastisement. |
Shakir | And the defaulters from among the dwellers of the desert came that permission may be given to them and they sat (at home) who lied to Allah and His Messenger; a painful chastisement shall afflict those of them who disbelieved. |
Sarwar | Some of the dwellers of the desert (who were not able to join the army) came to the Prophet seeking exemption from taking part in the battle. Those who called God and His Messengers liars also stayed home (with those who were truly exempt). The disbelievers will soon receive a painful punishment. |
H/K/Saheeh | And those with excuses among the bedouins came to be permitted [to remain], and they who had lied to Allah and His Messenger sat [at home]. There will strike those who disbelieved among them a painful punishment. |
Malik | Some from among the desert Arabs also came with their excuses, begging exemption to stay behind; thus, those who lied to Allah and His Messenger sat inactive. Soon a painful punishment shall seize those of them who disbelieved.[90] |
Maulana Ali** | And the defaulters from among the dwellers of the desert came that permission might be given to them, and they sat (at home) who lied to Allah and His Messenger. A painful chastisement will afflict those of them who disbelieve. |
Free Minds | And those who had an excuse from among the Nomads came so permission would be given to them, and those who denied God and His messenger simply stayed behind. Those who rejected from them will be inflicted with a painful retribution. |
Qaribullah | Some Arabs of the desert who had an excuse came asking permission to stay behind; whilst those who belied Allah and His Messenger remained behind. A painful punishment shall fall on those of them that disbelieved. |
George Sale | And certain Arabs of the desert came to excuse themselves, praying that they might be permitted to stay behind; and they sat at home who had renounced God and his Apostle. But a painful punishment shall be inflicted on such of them as believe not. |

Asad | AND THERE came [unto the Apostle] such of the bedouin as had some excuse to offer, [with the request] that they be granted exemption, whereas Muslim, on the authority of Jabir ibn `Abd Allah; and in various other hadfth compilations. Since `Abd Allah ibn Ubayy died some time after the Prophet's return from Tabuk, while verse 84-like most of this surah - was revealed during the campaign, it is clear that the prohibition expressed in this verse relates only (as the sequence shows) to those who "were bent on denying God and His Apostle, and [who] died in this their iniquity"-that is, to unrepentant sinners. those who were bent on giving the lie to God and His Apostle [simply] remained at home.'" [And] grievous suffering is bound to befall such of them as are bent on denying the truth! |
Khalifa** | The Arabs made up excuses, and came to you seeking permission to stay behind. This is indicative of their rejection of GOD and His messenger - they stay behind. Indeed, those who disbelieve among them have incurred a painful retribution. |
Hilali/Khan** | And those who made excuses from the bedouins came (to you, O Prophet SAW) asking your permission to exempt them (from the battle), and those who had lied to Allah and His Messenger sat at home (without asking the permission for it); a painful torment will seize those of them who disbelieve. |
QXP Shabbir Ahemd** | And of the wandering Arabs also, there were some who made excuses and came to claim exemption. And those who were false to Allah and His Messenger, merely sat behind. Grievous suffering is bound to befall the unbelievers among them. |

Abul Ala Maududi | بدوی عربوں میں سے بھی بہت سے لوگ آئے جنہوں نے عذر کیے تاکہ انہیں بھی پیچھے رہ جانے کی اجازت دی جائے اِس طرح بیٹھ رہے وہ لوگ جنہوں نے اللہ اور اس کے رسول سے ایمان کا جھوٹا عہد کیا تھا ان بدویوں میں سے جن لوگوں نے کفر کا طریقہ اختیار کیا ہے عنقریب وہ دردناک سزا سے دوچار ہوں گے |
