| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[72:5] | Waanna thanannaan lan taqoola al-insu waaljinnu AAala Allahikathiban
|  وأنا ظننا أن لن تقول الإنس والجن على الله كذبا
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَن لَّن تَقُولَ الْإِنسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا |
| Words | |وأنا - And that we| ظننا - thought| أن - that| لن - never| تقول - will say| الإنس - the men| والجن - and the jinn,| على - against| الله - Allah| كذبا - any lie.| |

| ‹እኛም ሰዎችና ጋኔኖች በአላህ ላይ ውሸትን (ቃል) አይናገሩም ማለትን ጠረጠርን፡፡› |
| آل الجلالين | { وأنا ظننا أن } مخففة، أي أنه { لن تقول الإنس والجن على الله كذبا } بوصفه بذلك حتى تبينا كذبهم بذلك قال تعالى: |
| Nekwni nenwa leonun akked imdanen, ur sawalen, af Öebbi, tikerkas, d awez$i. |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | অথচ আমরা মনে করতাম, মানুষ ও জিন কখনও আল্লাহ তা’আলা সম্পর্কে মিথ্যা বলতে পারে না। |
| Literal | 'And that we, we thought/assumed that (E) the human/mankind and the Jinns will never/not say on (about) God lies/denials/falsifications .' |
| Yusuf Ali | 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. |
| Pickthal | And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - |
| Arberry | and we had thought that men and jinn would never speak against God a lie. |
