[7:163] | Wais-alhum AAani alqaryati allatee kanathadirata albahri ith yaAAdoona fee alssabtiith ta/teehim heetanuhum yawma sabtihimshurraAAan wayawma la yasbitoona la ta/teehim kathalikanabloohum bima kanoo yafsuqoona
|  واسألهم عن القرية التي كانت حاضرة البحر إذ يعدون في السبت إذ تأتيهم حيتانهم يوم سبتهم شرعا ويوم لا يسبتون لا تأتيهم كذلك نبلوهم بما كانوا يفسقون
وسْأَلْهُمْ عَنِ الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ حَاضِرَةَ الْبَحْرِ إِذْ يَعْدُونَ فِي السَّبْتِ إِذْ تَأْتِيهِمْ حِيتَانُهُمْ يَوْمَ سَبْتِهِمْ شُرَّعاً وَيَوْمَ لاَ يَسْبِتُونَ لاَ تَأْتِيهِمْ كَذَلِكَ نَبْلُوهُم بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسُقُونَ |
| Words | |واسألهم - And ask them| عن - about| القرية - the town| التي - which| كانت - was| حاضرة - situated| البحر - (by) the sea,| إذ - when| يعدون - they transgressed| في - in| السبت - the (matter of) Sabbath,| إذ - when| تأتيهم - came to them| حيتانهم - their fish| يوم - (on the) day| سبتهم - (of) their Sabbath| شرعا - visibly| ويوم - and (on the) day| لا - not| يسبتون - they had Sabbath| لا - (they did) not| تأتيهم - come to them.| كذلك - Thus| نبلوهم - We test them| بما - because| كانوا - they were| يفسقون - defiantly disobeying.| |

| ከዚያችም በባህሩ ዳርቻ ከነበረችው ከተማ በቅዳሜ (ቀን) ወሰን ባለፉ ጊዜ በሰንበታቸው ቀን ዐሳዎቻቸው የተከማቹ ኾነው በሚመጡላቸው ጊዜ (የኾነውን) ጠይቃቸው፡፡ ሰንበትንም በማያከብሩበት (በሌላው) ቀን አይመጡላቸውም፡፡ እንደዚሁ ያምጹበት በነበሩት ምክንያት እንሞክራቸዋለን፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { واسألهم } يا محمد توبيخا { عن القرية التي كانت حاضرة البحر } مجاورة بحر القلزم وهي أيلة ما وقع بأهلها { إذ يعدون } يعتدون { في السبت } بصيد السمك المأمورين بتركه فيه { إذ } ظرف ليعدون { تأتيهم حيتانهم يوم سبتهم شُرَّعا } ظاهرة على الماء { ويوم لا يسبتون } لا يعظمون السبت أي سائر الأيام {لا تأتيهم} ابتلاء من الله {كذلك نبلوهم} بما كانوا يفسقون } ولما صادوا السمك افترقت القرية أثلاثا، ثلث صادوا معهم وثلث نهوهم، وثلث أمسكوا عن الصيد والنهي . |
| Steqsi ten $ef temdint i illan $ef rrif n yill, mi ur d rzin di ssebt, mi ten id usan iselman nnsen, walan ten, ass n ssebt. Ass, war ssebt, ur ten id ppasen. Akka ay ten Njeôôeb, deg wayen ssexsaôen. |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | আর তাদের কাছে সে জনপদের অবস্থা সম্পর্কে জিজ্ঞেস কর যা ছিল নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত। যখন শনিবার দিনের নির্দেশের ব্যাপারে সীমাতিক্রম করতে লাগল, যখন আসতে লাগল মাছগুলো তাদের কাছে শনিবার দিন পানির উপর, আর যেদিন শনিবার হত না, আসত না। এভাবে আমি তাদেরকে পরীক্ষা করেছি। কারণ, তারা ছিল নাফরমান। |
| Literal | And ask/question them about the village/urban city that was present (near) the sea/ocean , when they transgress/violate in the Saturday/Sabbath, when the fishes/large fishes/whales comes to them raised high/clearly showing (on the) day of their Sabbath/Saturday, and (the) day they do not observe the Sabbath by resting and worshipping (it) does not come to them, as/like that We test them because (of) what they were debauching . |
| Yusuf Ali | Ask them concerning the town standing close by the sea. Behold! they transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath. For on the day of their Sabbath their fish did come to them, openly holding up their heads, but on the day they had no Sabbath, they came not: thus did We make a trial of them, for they were given to transgression. |
| Pickthal | Ask them (O Muhammad) of the township that was by the sea, how they did break the Sabbath, how their big fish came unto them visibly upon their Sabbath day and on a day when they did not keep Sabbath came they not unto them. Thus did We try them for that they were evil-livers. |
| Arberry | And question them concerning the township which was bordering the sea, when they transgressed the Sabbath, when their fish came to them on the day of their Sabbath, swimming shorewards, but on the day they kept not Sabbath, they came not unto them. Even so We were trying them for their ungodliness. |

| Sarwar | (Muhammad), ask them about the (people of the) towns on the seashore. They had transgressed by catching fish on the Sabbath. Each Sabbath the fish came openly within their reach but not so on other days. Thus, We were testing them because of their evil deeds. |
| H/K/Saheeh | And ask them about the town that was by the sea when they transgressed in [the matter of] the sabbath when their fish came to them openly on their sabbath day, and the day they had no sabbath they did not come to them. Thus did We give them trial because they were defiantly disobedient. |

On the day of their Sabbath the fish appeared before them on the surface of the water but on the days other than their Sabbath they never came near them; thus did We tempt them because they transgressed.[163] |

| QXP Shabbir Ahemd** | Ask the Israelites about the township (Elat) that was located by the sea, and they had violated the Sabbath. The big fish used to come on the surface in abundance on their day of Sabbath, feeling secure, and did not come up on other days. (But the community failed to persevere, and broke the Sabbath to get a good catch). Thus We tested them to see for themselves how they drift away from discipline. |

Niin koettelimme Me heitä sen vuoksi, että he olivat tottelemattomia. |
| Na izaan ka kiran so ingd a matatago ko marani sa ragat. Gowani ko pzorang siran sa pando ko alongan a Sapto. Gowani na pphakatalingoma kiran so manga sda iran ko alongan a Sapto iran, a ndadakdakl, na sii ko alongan a di iran Sapto, na di kiran phakatalingoma. Lagid aya man a kapthiyoba Ami kiran, sabap ko da iran kapangongonotan. |

| Fateh Muhammad Jalandhary | اور ان سے اس گاؤں کا حال تو پوچھو جب لب دریا واقع تھا۔ جب یہ لوگ ہفتے کے دن کے بارے میں حد سے تجاوز کرنے لگے (یعنی) اس وقت کہ ان کے ہفتے کے دن مچھلیاں ان کے سامنے پانی کے اوپر آتیں اور جب ہفتے کا دن نہ ہوتا تو نہ آتیں۔ اسی طرح ہم ان لوگوں کو ان کی نافرمانیوں کے سبب آزمائش میں ڈالنے لگے |
| Mehmood Al Hassan | اور پوچھ ان سےحال اس بستی کا جو تھی دریا کے کنارے جب حد سے بڑھنے لگے ہفتہ کے حکم میں جب آنے لگیں انکے پاس مچھلیاں ہفتہ کے دن پانی کے اوپر اور جس دن ہفتہ نہ ہو تو نہ آتی تھیں اس طرح ہم نے ان کو آزمایا اس لئے کہ وہ نافرمان تھے |
| Abul Ala Maududi | اور ذرا اِن سے اُ س بستی کا حال بھی پوچھو جو سمندر کے کنارے واقع تھی اِنہیں یاد دلاؤ وہ واقعہ کہ وہاں کے لوگ سبت (ہفتہ) کے دن احکام الٰہی کی خلاف ورزی کرتے تھے اور یہ کہ مچھلیاں سبت ہی کے دن ابھر ابھر کر سطح پر اُن کے سامنے آتی تھیں اور سبت کے سوا باقی دنوں میں نہیں آتی تھیں یہ اس لیے ہوتا تھا کہ ہم ان کی نافرمانیوں کی وجہ سے ان کو آزمائش میں ڈال رہے تھے |
