Wama kana limu/minin anyaqtula mu/minan illa khataan waman qatala mu/minankhataan fatahreeru raqabatin mu/minatin wadiyatunmusallamatun ila ahlihi illa an yassaddaqoofa-in kana min qawmin AAaduwwin lakum wahuwa mu/minun fatahreeruraqabatin mu/minatin wa-in kana min qawmin baynakumwabaynahum meethaqun fadiyatun musallamatun ilaahlihi watahreeru raqabatin mu/minatin faman lam yajid fasiyamushahrayni mutatabiAAayni tawbatan mina Allahi wakanaAllahu AAaleeman hakeeman وما كان لمؤمن أن يقتل مؤمنا إلا خطأ ومن قتل مؤمنا خطأ فتحرير رقبة مؤمنة ودية مسلمة إلى أهله إلا أن يصدقوا فإن كان من قوم عدو لكم وهو مؤمن فتحرير رقبة مؤمنة وإن كان من قوم بينكم وبينهم ميثاق فدية مسلمة إلى أهله وتحرير رقبة مؤمنة فمن لم يجد فصيام شهرين متتابعين توبة من الله وكان الله عليما حكيما
وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ أَن يَقْتُلَ مُؤْمِنًا إِلاَّ خَطَئًا وَمَن قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَئًا فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ إِلاَّ أَن يَصَّدَّقُواْ فَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّ لَّكُمْ وَهُوَ مْؤْمِنٌ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ مِّيثَاقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ تَوْبَةً مِّنَ اللّهِ وَكَانَ اللّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
 Words|وما - And not| كان - is| لمؤمن - for a believer| أن - that| يقتل - he kills| مؤمنا - a believer| إلا - except| خطأ - (by) mistake.| ومن - And whoever| قتل - killed| مؤمنا - a believer| خطأ - (by) mistake,| فتحرير - then freeing| رقبة - (of) a slave| مؤمنة - - believing| ودية - and blood money| مسلمة - (is to be) paid| إلى - to| أهله - his family| إلا - unless| أن - that| يصدقوا - they remit (as) charity.| فإن - But if| كان - (he) was| من - from| قوم - a people| عدو - hostile| لكم - to you| وهو - and he was| مؤمن - a believer| فتحرير - then freeing| رقبة - (of) a believing slave.| مؤمنة - - believing.| وإن - And if| كان - (he) was| من - from| قوم - a people| بينكم - between you| وبينهم - and between them,| ميثاق - (is) a treaty,| فدية - then blood money| مسلمة - (is to be) paid| إلى - to| أهله - his family,| وتحرير - and freeing| رقبة - (of) a slave| مؤمنة - - believing.| فمن - And whoever| لم - (does) not| يجد - find,| فصيام - then fasting| شهرين - (for) two months| متتابعين - consecutively,| توبة - (seeking) repentance| من - from| الله - Allah,| وكان - and is| الله - Allah| عليما - All-Knowing,| حكيما - All-Wise.|

ለምእመንም በስሕተት ካልኾነ በቀር ምእመንን መግደል አይገባውም፡፡ ምእመንንም በስህተት የገደለ ሰው ያመነችን ጫንቃ (ባሪያ) ነጻ ማውጣትና ወደ ቤተሰቦቹም የምትሰጥ ጉማ ምሕረት ካላደረጉለት በስተቀር (መክፈል) አለበት፡፡ እርሱ (ተገዳዩ) ምእመን ሲኾን ለእናንተ ጠላት ከኾኑትም ሕዝቦች ቢኾን ያመነችን ጫንቃ ነጻ ማውጣት (ብቻ) አለበት፡፡ በእናንተና በእነሱ መካከል ቃል ኪዳን ካላቸውም ሕዝቦች ቢኾን ወደ ቤተሰቦቹ በእጅ የምትሰጥ ጉማና ያመነችን ጫንቃ ነጻ ማውጣት አለበት፡፡ ያላገኘ ሰውም ተከታታዮችን ሁለት ወሮች መጾም አለበት፡፡ አላህ መጸጸትን ለመቀበል (ደነገገላችሁ)፡፡ አላህም ዐዋቂ ጥበበኛ ነው፡፡
آل الجلالين{ وما كان لمؤمن أن يقتل مؤمنا } أي ما ينبغي أن يصدر منه قتل له { إلا خطئا } مخطئا في قتله من غير قصد { ومن قتل مؤمنا خطأ } بأن قصد رمي غيره كصيد أو شجرة فأصابه أو ضربه بما لا يقتل غالبا { فتحرير } عتق { رقبة } نسمة { مؤمنة } عليه { ودية مسلمة } مؤداة { إلى أهله } أي ورثة المقتول { إلا أن يصَّدقوا } يتصدقوا عليه بها بأن يعفوا عنها وبينت السنة أنها مائة من الإبل عشرون بنت مخاض وكذا بنات لبون وبنو لبون، وحقاق وجذاع وأنها على عاقلة القاتل وهم عصبته إلا الأصل والفرع موزعة عليهم على ثلاث سنين على الغني منهم نصف دينار والمتوسط ربع كل سنة فان لم يفوا فمن بيت المال فإن تعذر فعلى الجاني { فإن كان } المقتول { من قوم عدوٌ } حرب { لكم وهو مؤمن فتحرير رقبة مؤمنة } على قاتله كفارة ولا دية تسلم إلى أهله لحرابتهم { وإن كان } المقتول { من قوم بينكم وبينهم ميثاق } عهد كأهل الذمة { فدية } له { مسلَّمة إلى أهله } وهي ثلث دية المؤمن إن كان يهوديا أو نصرانيا وثلثا عشرها إن كان مجوسيا { وتحرير رقبة مؤمنة } على قاتله { فمن لم يجد } الرقبة بأن فقدها وما يحصلها به { فصيام شهرين متتابعين } عليه كفارة ولم يذكر الله تعالى الانتقال إلى الطعام كالظهار وبه أخذ الشافعي في أصح قوليه { توبة من اللهِ } مصدر منصوب بفعله المقدر { وكان الله عليما } بخلقه { حكيما } فيما دبره لهم .

মুহিউদ্দীন খানমুসলমানের কাজ নয় যে, মুসলমানকে হত্যা করে; কিন্তু ভুলক্রমে। যে ব্যক্তি মুসলমানকে ভূলক্রমে হত্যা করে, সে একজন মুসলমান ক্রীতদাস মুক্ত করবে এবং রক্ত বিনিময় সমর্পন করবে তার স্বজনদেরকে; কিন্তু যদি তারা ক্ষমা করে দেয়। অতঃপর যদি নিহত ব্যক্তি তোমাদের শত্রু সম্প্রদায়ের অন্তর্গত হয়, তবে মুসলমান ক্রীতদাস মুক্ত করবে এবং যদি সে তোমাদের সাথে চুক্তিবদ্ধ কোন সম্প্রদায়ের অন্তর্গত হয়, তবে রক্ত বিনিময় সমর্পণ করবে তার স্বজনদেরকে এবং একজন মুসলমান ক্রীতদাস মুক্ত করবে। অতঃপর যে ব্যক্তি না পায়, সে আল্লাহর কাছ থেকে গোনাহ মাফ করানোর জন্যে উপর্যুপুরি দুই মাস রোযা রাখবে। আল্লাহ, মহাজ্ঞানী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।
LiteralAnd (it) was/is not to a believer that he kills a believer except mistakenly, and who killed a believer mistakenly, so freeing/liberating a believing neck (slave), and compensation handed over/delivered to his (the victim's) family, except that they give charity (forgive), so if he was from a nation, an enemy for you, and he (the victim was) a believer, so freeing/liberating a believing neck (slave), and if he was/is from a nation between you and between them (is) a covenant (treaty), so a compensation handed over/delivered to his (the victim's) family and freeing/liberating a believing neck (slave), so who does not find, so fasting two months following each other (E), a repentance from at God, and God was/is knowledgeable, wise/judicious.
Yusuf AliNever should a believer kill a believer; but (If it so happens) by mistake, (Compensation is due): If one (so) kills a believer, it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation to the deceased's family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (Is enough). If he belonged to a people with whom ye have treaty of Mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, (is prescribed) a fast for two months running: by way of repentance to Allah: for Allah hath all knowledge and all wisdom.
PickthalIt is not for a believer to kill a believer unless (it be) by mistake. Arberry It belongs not to a believer to slay a believer, except it be by error. If any slays a believer by error, then let him set free a believing slave, and bloodwit is to be paid to his family unless they forgo it as a freewill offering. If he belong to a people at enmity with you and is a believer, let the slayer set free a believing slave. If he belong to a people joined with you by a compact, then bloodwit is to be paid to his family and the slayer shall set free a believing slave. But if he finds not the means, let him fast two successive months -- God's turning; God is All-knowing, All-wise.
ShakirAnd it does not behoove a believer to kill a believer except by mistake, and whoever kills a believer by mistake, he should free a believing slave, and blood-money should be paid to his people unless they remit it as alms; but if he be from a tribe hostile to you and he is a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (suffices), and if he is from a tribe between whom and you there is a convenant, the blood-money should be paid to his people along with the freeing of a believing slave; but he who cannot find (a slave) should fast for two months successively: a penance from Allah, and Allah is Knowing, Wise.
SarwarA believer cannot slay another believer except by mistake for which the retaliation is to set free a believing slave and pay the appointed blood money to the relatives of the deceased unless the relatives wave aside the payment. If the person slain is from your enemies but himself is a believer, the penalty is to set free a believing slave. If the person slain is one of those with whom you have a peace treaty, the penalty is the same as that for a slain believer. If this is not possible, the defendant has to fast for two consecutive months, asking God to accept his repentance. He is All-knowing and All-wise.

MalikIt is not befitting for a believer to kill a believer except by accident, and whoever accidently kills a believer, he is commanded to free a believing slave and pay bloodwit to the family of the victim, unless they forgo it as a charity. If the victim is from a hostile nation, then the freeing of a believing slave is enough, but if he belonged to a nation with whom you have a treaty, then bloodwit must be paid to his family along with the freeing of a believing slave. Those who do not have the means (bloodwit and / or a slave) must fast two consecutive months: a method of repentance provided by Allah. Allah is the Knowledgeable, Wise.[92]

If he belonged to a people who are your enemies and is a believer then, the setting free of a believing slave. If he belonged to a people in which there is between you and them a treaty, then a ransom is to be handed to his family and the setting free of a believing slave. But, if he does not find (the means) let him fast two consecutive months in repentance to Allah. And Allah is the Knower, the Wise.

If one kills a believer by accident, he shall atone by freeing a believing slave, and paying a compensation to the victim's family, unless they forfeit such a compensation as a charity. If he belonged to people with whom you have signed a peace treaty, you shall pay the compensation in addition to freeing a believing slave. If you cannot find a slave to free, you shall atone by fasting two consecutive months, in order to be redeemed by GOD. GOD is Knower, Most Wise.
Hilali/Khan**It is not for a believer to kill a believer except (that it be) by mistake, and whosoever kills a believer by mistake, (it is ordained that) he must set free a believing slave and a compensation (blood money, i.e Diya) be given to the deceaseds family, unless they remit it. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you and he was a believer; the freeing of a believing slave (is prescribed), and if he belonged to a people with whom you have a treaty of mutual alliance, compensation (blood money - Diya) must be paid to his family, and a believing slave must be freed. And whoso finds this (the penance of freeing a slave) beyond his means, he must fast for two consecutive months in order to seek repentance from Allah. And Allah is Ever AllKnowing, AllWise.
QXP Shabbir Ahemd**It is not conceivable that a believer will slay another believer unless it be a mistake. If one kills a believer by mistake, there is the duty of freeing a believing person from bondage; may it be slavery, extreme poverty, crushing debt or oppression. And pay compensation to the victim's family unless they forgo it by way of charity. If case the victim was a believer, and belonged to a tribe who are at war with you, free a believing person from bondage. If the victim was a believer, and belonged to a tribe with whom you have a peace treaty, you should pay the compensation to his family in addition to freeing a believing person from bondage. For those who find this settlement beyond their means, two consecutive months of Abstinence, as in the month of Ramadan, are ordained by way of repentance from Allah. And Allah is the Knower, the Wise.

Na sa taw a da a matoon iyan (a oripn) na kaphowasa sa dowa olan a makathondog a dowa oto: Kathawbat a phoon ko Allah: Na tatap a so Allah na Matao, a Mawngangn.
Ahmed Raza Khanاور مسلمانوں کو نہیں پہنچتا کہ مسلمان کا خون کرے مگر ہاتھ بہک کر اور جو کسی مسلمان کو نادانستہ قتل کرے تو اس پر ایک مملوک مسلمان کا آزاد کرنا ہے اور خون بہا کر مقتول کے لوگوں کو سپرد کی جائے مگر یہ کہ وہ معاف کردیں پھر اگر وہ اس قوم سے ہو جو تمہاری دشمن ہے اور خود مسلمان ہے تو صرف ایک مملوک مسلمان کا آزاد کرنا اور اگر وہ اس قوم میں ہو کہ تم میں ان میں معاہدہ ہے تو اس کے لوگوں کو خوں بہا سپرد کیا جائے اور ایک مسلمان مملوک آزاد کرنا تو جس کا ہاتھ نہ پہنچے وہ لگاتار دو مہینے کے روزے یہ اللہ کے یہاں اس کی توبہ ہے اور اللہ جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے،
Shabbir Ahmed اور نہیں ہے کسی مومن کے لیے (روا) کہ قتل کرے کسی مومن کو مگر غلطی سے۔ اور جس نے قتل کیا کسی مومن کو غلطی سے تو آزاد کرے ایک غلام، مومن اور خون بہا ادا کیا جائے مقتول کے وارثوں کو، مگر یہ کہ معاف کردیں وہ بطور صدقہ پھر اگر ہو مقتول ایسی قوم سے جو دشمن ہو تمہاری اور ہو مقتول مومن تو آزاد کرنا ہوگا ایک مومن غلام۔ اور اگر ہو مقتول ایسی قوم میں سے کہ تمہارے اور ان کے درمیان معاہدہ ہو تو خون بہا ادا کیا جائے اس کے وارثوں کو اور آزاد کیا جائے ایک مومن غلام پھر جس کو میّسر نہ ہو (غلام) تو روزے رکھے دو مہینے کے لگاتار، توبہ کرنے کے لیے اللہ سے۔ اور ہے اللہ ہر بات جاننے والا، بڑی حکمت والا۔
Fateh Muhammad Jalandharyاور کسی مومن کو شایان نہیں کہ مومن کو مار ڈالے مگر بھول کر اور جو بھول کر بھی مومن کو مار ڈالے تو (ایک تو) ایک مسلمان غلام آزاد کردے اور (دوسرے) مقتول کے وارثوں کو خون بہا دے ہاں اگر وہ معاف کردیں (تو ان کو اختیار ہے) اگر مقتول تمہارے دشمنوں کی جماعت میں سے ہو اور وہ خود مومن ہو تو صرف ایک مسلمان غلام آزاد کرنا چاہیئے اور اگر مقتول ایسے لوگوں میں سے ہو جن میں اور تم میں صلح کا عہد ہو تو وارثان مقتول کو خون بہا دینا اور ایک مسلمان غلام آزاد کرنا چاہیئے اور جس کو یہ میسر نہ ہو وہ متواتر دو مہینے کے روزے رکھے یہ (کفارہ) خدا کی طرف سے (قبول) توبہ (کے لئے) ہے اور خدا (سب کچھ) جانتا اور بڑی حکمت والا ہے

Abul Ala Maududiکسی مومن کا یہ کام نہیں ہے کہ دوسرے مومن کو قتل کرے، الا یہ کہ اُس سے چوک ہو جائے، اور جو شخص کسی مومن کو غلطی سے قتل کر دے تو اس کا کفارہ یہ ہے کہ ایک مومن کو غلامی سے آزاد کرے اور مقتول کے وارثوں کو خونبہا دے، الا یہ کہ وہ خونبہا معاف کر دیں لیکن اگر وہ مسلمان مقتول کسی ایسی قوم سے تھا جس سے تمہاری دشمنی ہو تو اس کا کفارہ ایک مومن غلام آزاد کرنا ہے اور اگر وہ کسی ایسی غیرمسلم قوم کا فرد تھا جس سے تمہارا معاہدہ ہو تو اس کے وارثوں کو خون بہا دیا جائے گا اور ایک مومن غلام کو آزاد کرنا ہوگا پھر جو غلام نہ پائے وہ پے در پے دو مہینے کے روزے رکھے یہ اِس گناہ پر اللہ سے توبہ کرنے کا طریقہ ہے اور اللہ علیم و دانا ہے
Ahmed Aliاور مسلمانوں کا یہ کام نہیں کہ کسی مسلمان کو قتل کرے مگر غلطی سے اور جو مسلمان کو غلطی سے قتل کرے تو ایک مسلمان کی گردن آزاد کرے اور مقتول کے وارثوں کو خون بہا دے مگر یہ کہ وہ خون بہا معاف کر دیں پھر اگر وہ مسلمان مقتول کسی ایسی قوم میں تھا جس سے تمہاری دشمنی ہے تو ایک مومن غلام آزاد کرنا ہے اور اگر وہ مقتول مسلمان کسی ایسی قوم میں سے تھا جس سے تمہارا معاہدہ ہے تو اس کے وارثوں کو خون بہا دیا جائے گا اور ایک مومن غلام کو آزاد کرنا ہوگا پھر جو غلام نہ پائے وہ پے درپے دو مہینے کے روزے رکھے الله سےگناہ بخشوانے کے لیے اور الله جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے
