| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[4:18] | Walaysati alttawbatu lillatheenayaAAmaloona alssayyi-ati hatta ithahadara ahadahumu almawtu qala inneetubtu al-ana wala allatheena yamootoonawahum kuffarun ola-ika aAAtadna lahum AAathabanaleeman
|  وليست التوبة للذين يعملون السيئات حتى إذا حضر أحدهم الموت قال إني تبت الآن ولا الذين يموتون وهم كفار أولئك أعتدنا لهم عذابا أليما
وَلَيْسَتِ التَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ حَتَّى إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ إِنِّي تُبْتُ الْآنَ وَلاَ الَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ أُوْلَـئِكَ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا |
| Words | |وليست - And not| التوبة - (is) the acceptance of repentance| للذين - for those who| يعملون - do| السيئات - the evil deeds| حتى - until| إذا - when| حضر - approaches| أحدهم - one of them| الموت - [the] death,| قال - he says,| إني - "Indeed I| تبت - repent| الآن - now;"| ولا - and not| الذين - those who| يموتون - die| وهم - while they| كفار - (are) disbelievers.| أولئك - Those -| أعتدنا - We have prepared| لهم - for them| عذابا - a punishment| أليما - painful.| |

| ጸጸትንም መቀበል ለእነዚያ ኀጢአቶችን ለሚሠሩ አንዳቸውንም ሞት በመጣበት ጊዜ «እኔ አሁን ተጸጸትኩ» ለሚልና ለነዚያም እነርሱ ከሓዲዎች ኾነው ለሚሞቱ አይደለችም፡፡ እነዚያ ለእነሱ አሳማሚን ቅጣት አዘጋጅተናል፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { وليست التوبة للذين يعملون السيئات } الذنوب { حتى إذا حضر أحدهم الموتُ } وأخذ في النزع { قال } عند مشاهدة ما هو فيه { إنِّي تبت الآن } فلا ينفعه ذلك ولا يقبل منه { ولا الذين يموتون وهم كفار } إذا تابوا في الآخرة عند معاينة العذاب لا تقبل منهم { أولئك أعتدنا } أعددنا { لهم عذابا أليما } مؤلما . |
| Ur illi usuref i wid ixedmen tucmitin. Alamma, mi d tusa yiwen tmeppant, a d yini: "nek steôoâe$ tura". Akken, wid immuten u nitni d ijehliyen. Widak, Nhegga yasen d aâaqeb aqeôêan. |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | আর এমন লোকদের জন্য কোন ক্ষমা নেই, যারা মন্দ কাজ করতেই থাকে, এমন কি যখন তাদের কারো মাথার উপর মৃত্যু উপস্থিত হয়, তখন বলতে থাকেঃ আমি এখন তওবা করছি। আর তওবা নেই তাদের জন্য, যারা কুফরী অবস্থায় মৃত্যুবরণ করে। আমি তাদের জন্য যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি প্রস্তুত করে রেখেছি। |
| Literal | And the forgiveness is not to those who make/do/commit the sins/crimes until if the death attended one of them, he said: "I repented now." And nor those who die and they are disbelievers, those We prepared for them a painful torture. |
| Yusuf Ali | Of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil, until death faces one of them, and he says, "Now have I repented indeed;" nor of those who die rejecting Faith: for them have We prepared a punishment most grievous. |

| Na da a tawbat (a khatarima) a rk o siran a gi iran manggolawla so manga rarata, taman sa amay ka miyakarani ko isa kiran so kapatay, na tharoon iyan a: "Mataan! a sakn na mithawbat ako imanto;" go da (a tawbat a khatarima) ko siran a phamatay ko kakakapir iran: Ka siran man na pithiyagaran Ami siran sa siksa a malipds. |

| Fateh Muhammad Jalandhary | اور ایسے لوگوں کی توبہ قبول نہیں ہوتی جو (ساری عمر) برے کام کرتے ہیں۔ یہاں تک کہ جب ان میں سے کسی موت آموجود ہو تو اس وقت کہنے لگے کہ اب میں توبہ کرتا ہوں اور نہ ان کی (توبہ قبول ہوتی ہے) جو کفر کی حالت میں مریں۔ ایسے لوگوں کے لئے ہم نے عذاب الیم تیار کر رکھا ہے |

| Abul Ala Maududi | مگر توبہ اُن لوگوں کے لیے نہیں ہے جو برے کام کیے چلے جاتے ہیں یہاں تک کہ جب ان میں سے کسی کی موت وقت آ جاتا ہے اُس وقت وہ کہتا ہے کہ اب میں نے توبہ کی، اور اسی طرح توبہ اُن کے لیے بھی نہیں ہے جو مرتے دم تک کافر رہیں ا یسے لوگوں کے لیے تو ہم نے درد ناک سزا تیار کر رکھی ہے |
