بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

1 [3:167] | WaliyaAAlama allatheena nafaqoowaqeela lahum taAAalaw qatiloo fee sabeeli Allahiawi idfaAAoo qaloo law naAAlamu qitalan laittabaAAnakumhum lilkufri yawma-ithin aqrabu minhum lil-eemaniyaqooloona bi-afwahihim ma laysa fee quloobihim waAllahuaAAlamu bima yaktumoona
| وليعلم الذين نافقوا وقيل لهم تعالوا قاتلوا في سبيل الله أو ادفعوا قالوا لو نعلم قتالا لاتبعناكم هم للكفر يومئذ أقرب منهم للإيمان يقولون بأفواههم ما ليس في قلوبهم والله أعلم بما يكتمون وَلِيَعْلَمَ الَّذِينَ نَافَقُواْ وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْاْ قَاتِلُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ أَوِ ادْفَعُواْ قَالُواْ لَوْ نَعْلَمُ قِتَالاً لاَّتَّبَعْنَاكُمْ هُمْ لِلْكُفْرِ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَقْرَبُ مِنْهُمْ لِلْإِيمَانِ يَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَاهِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ وَاللّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَكْتُمُونَ |
Words | |وليعلم - And that He (might) make evident| الذين - those who| نافقوا - (are) hypocrites.| وقيل - And it was said| لهم - to them,| تعالوا - "Come,| قاتلوا - fight| في - in| سبيل - (the) way| الله - (of) Allah| أو - or| ادفعوا - defend."| قالوا - They said,| لو - "If| نعلم - we knew| قتالا - fighting| لاتبعناكم - certainly we (would have) followed you."| هم - They -| للكفر - to disbelief| يومئذ - that day| أقرب - (were) nearer| منهم - than [them]| للإيمان - to the faith,| يقولون - saying| بأفواههم - with their mouths| ما - what| ليس - was not| في - in| قلوبهم - their hearts.| والله - And Allah| أعلم - (is) Most Knowing| بما - of what| يكتمون - they conceal.| |

| እነዚያንም የነፈቁትንና ለነርሱ «ኑ፤ በአላህ መንገድ ተጋደሉ፤ ወይም ተከላከሉ፤» የተባሉትን ሊገልጽ ነው፡፡ «መዋጋት (መኖሩን) ብናውቅ ኖሮ በተከተልናችሁ ነበር» አሉ፡፡ እነርሱ ያን ጊዜ ከእምነት ይልቅ ወደ ክህደት የቀረቡ ናቸው፡፡ በልቦቻቸው የሌለውን በአፎቻቸው ይናገራሉ፡፡ አላህም የሚደብቁትን ዐዋቂ ነው፡፡ |
آل الجلالين | { وليعلم الذين نافقوا و } الذين { قيل لهم } لما انصرفوا عن القتال وهم عبد الله بن أبيّ وأصحابه { تعالوا قاتلوا في سبيل الله } أعداءه { أو ادفعوا } عنا القوم بتكثير سوادكم إن لم تقاتلوا { قالوا لو نَعْلَمُ } نحسن { قتالا لاتبعناكم } قال تعالى تكذيبا لهم: { هم للكفر يومئذ أقرب منهم للإيمان } بما أظهروا من خذلانهم للمؤمنين وكانوا قبل أقرب إلى الإيمان من حيث الظاهر { يقولون بأفواهم ما ليس في قلوبهم } ولو علموا قتالا لم يتبعوكم { والله أعلم بما يكتمون } من النفاق . |

মুহিউদ্দীন খান | এবং তাদেরকে যাতে সনাক্ত করা যায় যারা মুনাফিক ছিল। আর তাদেরকে বলা হল এসো, আল্লাহর রাহে লড়াই কর কিংবা শত্রুদিগকে প্রতিহত কর। তারা বলেছিল, আমরা যদি জানতাম যে, লড়াই হবে, তাহলে অবশ্যই তোমাদের সাথে থাকতাম। সে দিন তারা ঈমানের তুলনায় কুফরীর কাছাকাছি ছিল। যা তাদের অন্তরে নেই তারা নিজের মুখে সে কথাই বলে বস্তুতঃআল্লাহ ভালভাবে জানেন তারা যা কিছু গোপন করে থাকে। |
Literal | And to know those who exercised hypocrisy, and was said to them: "Come, fight in God's sake or pay/push/repel." They said: "If we know a fight we would have followed you." They are to the disbelief that day nearer/closer, from them to the belief. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts/minds ,and God (is) more knowing with what they hide/conceal . |
Yusuf Ali | And the Hypocrites also. These were told: "Come, fight in the way of Allah, or (at least) drive (The foe from your city)." They said: "Had we known how to fight, we should certainly have followed you." They were that day nearer to Unbelief than to Faith, saying with their lips what was not in their hearts but Allah hath full knowledge of all they conceal. |
Pickthal | And that He might know the hypocrites, unto whom it was said: Come, fight in the way of Allah, or defend yourselves. They answered: If we knew aught of fighting we would follow you. On that day they were nearer disbelief than faith. They utter with their mouths a thing which is not in their hearts. Allah is Best Aware of what they hide. |
Arberry | and that He might also know the hypocrites when it was said of them, 'Come now, fight in the way of God, or repel!' They said, 'If only we knew how to fight, we would follow you.' Shabbir Ahmed | اور اس لیے کہ دیکھ لے ان لوگوں کو جو منافق ہیں اور کہا گیا تھا اُن سے کہ آؤ جنگ کرو اللہ کی راہ میں یا دفاع کرو اُنہوں نے کہا اگر ہم جانتے کہ لڑائی ہوگی تو ضرور ساتھ چلتے ہم تمہارے۔ یہ لوگ کفر سے اس دن زیادہ قریب تھے بہ نسبت ایمان کے، کہتے ہیں اپنے مُنہ سے ایسی باتیں جو نہیں ہیں ان کے دلوں میں اور اللہ خُوب جانتا ہے اس کو جو وہ چھپاتے ہیں ۔ |
Fateh Muhammad Jalandhary | اور منافقوں کو بھی معلوم کرلے اور (جب) ان سے کہا گیا کہ آؤ خدا کے رستے میں جنگ کرو یا (کافروں کے) حملوں کو روکو۔ تو کہنے لگے کہ اگر ہم کو لڑائی کی خبر ہوتی تو ہم ضرور تمہارے ساتھ رہتے یہ اس دن ایمان کی نسبت کفر سے زیادہ قریب تھے منہ سے وہ باتیں کہتے ہیں جو ان کے دل میں نہیں ہیں۔ اور جو کچھ یہ چھپاتے ہیں خدا ان سے خوب واقف ہے |

Abul Ala Maududi | اور منافق کون، وہ منافق کہ جب اُن سے کہا گیا آؤ، اللہ کی راہ میں جنگ کرو یا کم از کم (اپنے شہر کی) مدافعت ہی کرو، تو کہنے لگے اگر ہمیں علم ہوتا کہ آج جنگ ہوگی تو ہم ضرور ساتھ چلتے یہ بات جب وہ کہہ رہے تھے اُس وقت وہ ایمان کی نسبت کفر سے زیادہ قریب تھے وہ اپنی زبانوں سے وہ باتیں کہتے ہیں جو ان کے دلوں میں نہیں ہوتیں، اور جو کچھ وہ دلوں میں چھپاتے ہیں اللہ اسے خوب جانتا ہے |
