بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

1 [2:78] | Waminhum ommiyyoona la yaAAlamoonaalkitaba illa amaniyya wa-in hum illayathunnoona
| ومنهم أميون لا يعلمون الكتاب إلا أماني وإن هم إلا يظنون وَمِنْهُمْ أُمِّـيُّونَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ الْكِتَابَ إِلاَّ أَمَانِيَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلاَّ يَظُنُّونَ |
Words | |ومنهم - And among them| أميون - (are) unlettered ones,| لا - (who) do not| يعلمون - know| الكتاب - the book| إلا - except| أماني - wishful thinking| وإن - and not| هم - they| إلا - (do anything) except| يظنون - guess.| |

| ከነሱም መጽሐፉን የማያውቁ መሃይማናን አሉ፡፡ ግን ከንቱ ምኞቶችን (ይመኛሉ)፤ እነርሱም የሚጠራጠሩ እንጂ ሌላ አይደሉም፡፡ |
آل الجلالين | { ومنهم } أي اليهود { أميون } عوام { لا يعلمون الكتاب } التوراة { إلا } لكن { أمانيَّ } أكاذيب تلقَّوْها من رؤسائهم فاعتمدوها { وإن } ما { هم } في جحد نبوة النبي وغيره مما يختلقونه { إلا يظنون } ظناً ولا علم لهم . |
| Garasen, at war ta$uôi, ur nessin Tazmamt, siwa ayen nnwan. Nitni $ilen kan. |
মুহিউদ্দীন খান | তোমাদের কিছু লোক নিরক্ষর। তারা মিথ্যা আকাঙ্খা ছাড়া আল্লাহর গ্রন্থের কিছুই জানে না। তাদের কাছে কল্পনা ছাড়া কিছুই নেই। |
Literal | And from them (are) illiterates/belonging to a nation they do not know The Book except (as) wishes/desires/lies and that they are except assuming/ supposing . |
Yusuf Ali | And there are among them illiterates, who know not the Book, but (see therein their own) desires, and they do nothing but conjecture. |
Pickthal | Among them are unlettered folk who know the Scripture not except from hearsay. They but guess. |
Arberry | And some there are of them that are common folk not knowing the Book, but only fancies and mere conjectures. |
Shakir | And there are among them illiterates who know not the Book but only lies, and they do but conjecture. |
