1 [2:246] | Alam tara ila almala-i min banee isra-eelamin baAAdi moosa ith qaloo linabiyyin lahumuibAAath lana malikan nuqatil fee sabeeli Allahiqala hal AAasaytum in kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalualla tuqatiloo qaloo wama lanaalla nuqatila fee sabeeli Allahi waqadokhrijna min diyarina waabna-inafalamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu tawallaw illaqaleelan minhum waAllahu AAaleemun bialththalimeena
| ألم تر إلى الملإ من بني إسرائيل من بعد موسى إذ قالوا لنبي لهم ابعث لنا ملكا نقاتل في سبيل الله قال هل عسيتم إن كتب عليكم القتال ألا تقاتلوا قالوا وما لنا ألا نقاتل في سبيل الله وقد أخرجنا من ديارنا وأبنائنا فلما كتب عليهم القتال تولوا إلا قليلا منهم والله عليم بالظالمين أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ مِن بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِن بَعْدِ مُوسَى إِذْ قَالُواْ لِنَبِيٍّ لَّهُمُ ابْعَثْ لَنَا مَلِكًا نُّقَاتِلْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ قَالَ هَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ إِن كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ أَلاَّ تُقَاتِلُواْ قَالُواْ وَمَا لَنَا أَلاَّ نُقَاتِلَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَقَدْ أُخْرِجْنَا مِن دِيَارِنَا وَأَبْنَآئِنَا فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ تَوَلَّوْاْ إِلاَّ قَلِيلاً مِّنْهُمْ وَاللّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالظَّالِمِينَ |

| ከእስራኤል ልጆች ከሙሳ በኋላ ወደ ነበሩት ጭፍሮች ለነቢያቸው (ለሳሙኤል)፡- «ለእኛ ንጉሥን አስነሳልን በአላህ መንገድ እንዋጋለን፤» ባሉ ጊዜ አላየህምን? (አላወቅህምን?)፡-«መዋጋት ቢጻፍባችሁ አትዋጉም ይኾናል» አላቸው፡፡ «ከሀገሮቻችንና ከልጆቻችን የተባረርን ስንኾን በአላህ መንገድ የማንዋጋ ለእኛ ምን አለን?» አሉ፡፡ በእነርሱ ላይ መዋጋት በተጻፈባቸውም ጊዜ ከእነርሱ ጥቂቶች ሲቀሩ አፈገፈጉ፡፡ አላህም በዳዮቹን ዐዋቂ ነው፡፡ |
آل الجلالين | { ألم تر إلى الملأ } الجماعة { من بني إسرائيل من بعد } موت { موسى } أي إلى قصتهم وخبرهم { إذ قالوا لنبي لهم } هو شمويل { ابعث } أقم { لنا ملكا نقاتل } معه { في سبيل الله } تنتظم به كلمتنا ونرجع إليه { قال } النبي لهم { هل عسَيتم } بالفتح والكسر { إن كتب عليكم القتال أ } ن { لا تقاتلوا } خبر عسى والاستفهام لتقرير التوقع بها { قالوا وما لنا أ } ن { لا نقاتل في سبيل الله وقد أُخرجنا من ديارنا وأبنائنا } بسبيهم وقتلهم وقد فعل بهم ذلك قوم جالوت أي لا مانع لنا منه مع وجود مقتضيه قال تعالى : { فلما كُتب عليهم القتال تولوا } عنه وجبنوا { إلا قليلا منهم } وهم الذين عبروا النهر مع طالوت كما سيأتي { والله عليم بالظالمين } فمجازيهم وسأل النبي إرسال ملك فأجابه إلى إرسال طالوت . |
| Day ur twalav ara imvebbôen seg wAt Isôail, deffir Musa? Mi nnan i nnbi nnsen: "azen a$ d agellid, a nenna$ deg ubrid n Öebbi". Inna: "ma iura fellawen umennu$, day a ppagim a ppenna$em"? Nnan: "ur a$ issefk ara a neqqim ur nepna$ ara, deg ubrid n Öebbi. Ni$ ssuff$en a$ d, nekwni akked tarwa nne$, seg ixxamen nne$". Mi iura fellasen umennu$, wexxôen, siwa drus segsen. Öebbi Issen imednas. |
মুহিউদ্দীন খান | মূসার পরে তুমি কি বনী ইসরাঈলের একটি দলকে দেখনি, যখন তারা বলেছে নিজেদের নবীর কাছে যে, আমাদের জন্য একজন বাদশাহ নির্ধারিত করে দিন যাতে আমরা আল্লাহর পথে যুদ্ধ করতে পারি। নবী বললেন, তোমাদের প্রতিও কি এমন ধারণা করা যায় যে, লড়াইর হুকুম যদি হয়, তাহলে তখন তোমরা লড়বে না? তারা বলল, আমাদের কি হয়েছে যে, আমরা আল্লাহর পথে লড়াই করব না। অথচ আমরা বিতাড়িত হয়েছি নিজেদের ঘর-বাড়ী ও সন্তান-সন্ততি থেকে। অতঃপর যখন লড়াইয়ের নির্দেশ হলো, তখন সামান্য কয়েকজন ছাড়া তাদের সবাই ঘুরে দাঁড়ালো। আর আল্লাহ তা’আলা জালেমদের ভাল করেই জানেন। |
Literal | Do you not see/understand to the nobles/assembly from Israel's sons and daughters from after Moses, when they said to a prophet to them: "Send to us a king , we will fight/kill in God's way/road/sake." He said: "Did you maybe hope if the fighting/killing (is) written/dictated/ordered on you, that you do not fight/kill?"They said: "And why not for us (that) we not fight/kill in God's way/road/sake, and we had been brought out/forced from our homes/countries/tribes and our sons." So when the fighting/killing was written/dictated/ordered on them they turned away, except little/few from them, and God (is) knowledgeable with the unjust. |
Yusuf Ali | Hast thou not Turned thy vision to the Chiefs of the Children of Israel after (the time of) Moses? they said to a prophet (That was) among them: "Appoint for us a king, that we May fight in the cause of Allah." He said: "Is it not possible, if ye were commanded to fight, that that ye will not fight?" They said: "How could we refuse to fight in the cause of Allah, seeing that we were turned out of our homes and our families?" but when they were commanded to fight, they turned back, except a small band among them. Pickthal | Bethink thee of the leaders of the Children of Israel after Moses, how they said unto a prophet whom they had: Set up for us a king and we will fight in Allah's way. Yet, when fighting was prescribed for them, they turned away, all save a few of them. Allah is aware of evil-doers. |

Sarwar | (Muhammad), remember that group of the Israelites after Moses who demanded a Prophet of their own to appoint a king for them who would lead them in the fight for the cause of God. Their Prophet then said, "What if you are ordered to fight and you disobey?" They said, "Why should we not fight for the cause of God when we and our sons have been expelled from our homes?" However, when they were ordered to fight, all refused except a few among them. God knows well the unjust. |

They replied, "How could we refuse to fight in the cause of Allah, while we along with our children were driven out of our homes?" But when, on their demand, they were ordered to fight, all refused except a few of them. Allah knows the evildoers.[246] |

Fateh Muhammad Jalandhary | بھلا تم نے بنی اسرائیل کی ایک جماعت کو نہیں دیکھا جس نے موسیٰ کے بعد اپنے پیغمبر سے کہا کہ آپ ہمارے لئے ایک بادشاہ مقرر کردیں تاکہ ہم خدا کی راہ میں جہاد کریں۔ پیغمبر نے کہا کہ اگر تم کو جہاد کا حکم دیا جائے تو عجب نہیں کہ لڑنے سے پہلو تہی کرو۔ وہ کہنے لگے کہ ہم راہ خدا میں کیوں نہ لڑیں گے جب کہ ہم وطن سے (خارج) اور بال بچوں سے جدا کردیئے گئے۔ لیکن جب ان کو جہاد کا حکم دیا گیا تو چند اشخاص کے سوا سب پھر گئے۔ اور خدا ظالموں سے خوب واقف ہے |
