| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[2:206] | Wa-itha qeela lahu ittaqi Allahaakhathat-hu alAAizzatu bial-ithmi fahasbuhujahannamu walabi/sa almihadu
|  وإذا قيل له اتق الله أخذته العزة بالإثم فحسبه جهنم ولبئس المهاد
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُ اتَّقِ اللّهَ أَخَذَتْهُ الْعِزَّةُ بِالْإِثْمِ فَحَسْبُهُ جَهَنَّمُ وَلَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ |
| Words | |وإذا - And when| قيل - it is said| له - to him| اتق - "Fear| الله - Allah,"| أخذته - takes him| العزة - (his) pride| بالإثم - to [the] sins.| فحسبه - Then enough for him| جهنم - (is) Hell -| ولبئس - [and] surely an evil| المهاد - [the] resting-place.| |

| ለእርሱ «አላህን ፍራ» በተባለም ጊዜ፤ ትዕቢቱ በኃጢኣት (ሥራ) ላይ ትገፈፋዋለች፡፡ ገሀነምም በቂው ናት፤ (እርሷም) በእርግጥ የከፋች ምንጣፍ ናት፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { وإذا قيل له اتق الله } في فعلك { أخذته العزة } حملته الأنفة والحمية على العمل { بالإثم } الذي أُمر باتقائه { فحسبه } كافيه { جهنم ولبئس المهاد } الفراش هي . |
| Ma nnan as: "êezzeb i Öebbi"! A t tekcem lqwedôa ubekkav. Ad isteqnaâ s Loahennama. A yir usu! |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | আর যখন তাকে বলা হয় যে, আল্লাহকে ভয় কর, তখন তার পাপ তাকে অহঙ্কারে উদ্বুদ্ধ করে। সুতরাং তার জন্যে দোযখই যথেষ্ট। আর নিঃসন্দেহে তা হলো নিকৃষ্টতর ঠিকানা। |
| Literal | And if (it) was said to him: "Fear and obey God." The glory/might took him with the sin/crime, so (it is) enough for him Hell and how bad (E), (are) the beds . |
| Yusuf Ali | When it is said to him, "Fear Allah", He is led by arrogance to (more) crime. Enough for him is Hell;-An evil bed indeed (To lie on)! |
| Pickthal | And when it is said unto him: Be careful of thy duty to Allah, pride taketh him to sin. Hell will settle his account, an evil resting-place. |
| Arberry | and when it is said to him, 'Fear God', vainglory seizes him in his sin. So Gehenna shall be enough for him -- how evil a cradling! |
| Shakir | And when it is said to him, guard against (the punish ment of) Allah; pride carries him off to sin, therefore hell is sufficient for him; and certainly it is an evil resting place. |
| Sarwar | When they are asked to have fear of God, sinful pride prevents them from paying heed to such advice. It is enough for them to have hell as a terrible dwelling place. |
| H/K/Saheeh | And when it is said to him, "Fear Allah," pride in the sin takes hold of him. Sufficient for him is Hellfire, and how wretched is the resting place. |
