بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

1 [17:16] | Wa-itha aradna an nuhlikaqaryatan amarna mutrafeeha fafasaqoo feehafahaqqa AAalayha alqawlu fadammarnahatadmeeran
| وإذا أردنا أن نهلك قرية أمرنا مترفيها ففسقوا فيها فحق عليها القول فدمرناها تدميرا وَإِذَا أَرَدْنَا أَن نُّهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُواْ فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا الْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَاهَا تَدْمِيرًا |
Words | |وإذا - And when| أردنا - We intend| أن - that| نهلك - We destroy| قرية - a town,| أمرنا - We order| مترفيها - its wealthy people| ففسقوا - but they defiantly disobey| فيها - therein;| فحق - so (is) proved true| عليها - against it| القول - the word,| فدمرناها - and We destroy it| تدميرا - (with) destruction.| |

| ከተማንም ለማጥፋት በፈለግን ጊዜ ባለ ጸጋዎችዋን እናዛለን፡፡ በውስጧም ያምጻሉ፡፡ በእርሷም ላይ ቃሉ (ቅጣቱ) ይፈጸምባታል፡፡ ማጥፋትንም እናጠፋታለን፡፡ |
آل الجلالين | { وإذا أردنا أن نهلك قرية أمرنا مترفيها } منعميها بمعنى رؤسائها بالطاعة على لسان رسلنا { ففسقوا فيها } فخرجوا عن أمرنا { فحق عليها القول } بالعذاب { فدمرناها تدميرا } أهلكناها بإهلاك أهلها وتخريبها . |

মুহিউদ্দীন খান | যখন আমি কোন জনপদকে ধ্বংস করার ইচ্ছা করি তখন তার অবস্থাপন্ন লোকদেরকে উদ্ধুদ্ধ করি অতঃপর তারা পাপাচারে মেতে উঠে। তখন সে জনগোষ্টীর উপর আদেশ অবধারিত হয়ে যায়। অতঃপর আমি তাকে উঠিয়ে আছাড় দেই। |
Literal | And if We willed/wanted that (E) We destroy/perish a village/urban city, We ordered/commanded its luxuriated ungrateful and arrogant, so they debauched in it, so the saying/words was deserved on it, so We destroyed it destructively. |
Yusuf Ali | When We decide to destroy a population, We (first) send a definite order to those among them who are given the good things of this life and yet transgress; so that the word is proved true against them: then (it is) We destroy them utterly. |
Pickthal | And when We would destroy a township We send commandment to its folk who live at ease, and afterward they commit abomination therein, and so the Word (of doom) hath effect for it, and we annihilate it with complete annihilation. |
