| 1 [18:14] | Warabatna AAalaquloobihim ith qamoo faqaloo rabbunarabbu alssamawati waal-ardilan nadAAuwa min doonihi ilahan laqad qulna ithanshatatan |  وربطنا على قلوبهم إذ قاموا فقالوا ربنا رب السماوات والأرض لن ندعو من دونه إلها لقد قلنا إذا شططاوَرَبَطْنَا عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ إِذْ قَامُوا فَقَالُوا رَبُّنَا رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَن نَّدْعُوَاْ مِن دُونِهِ إِلَهًا لَّقَدْ قُلْنَا إِذًا شَطَطًا | |||||
| Words | |وربطنا - And We made firm| على - [on]| قلوبهم - their hearts| إذ - when| قاموا - they stood up| فقالوا - and said,| ربنا - "Our Lord| رب - (is) the Lord| السماوات - (of) the heavens| والأرض - and the earth.| لن - Never| ندعو - we will invoke| من - besides Him| دونه - besides Him| إلها - any god.| لقد - Certainly,| قلنا - we would have said,| إذا - then,| شططا - an enormity.| | ||||||
| 2 [72:4] | Waannahu kana yaqoolu safeehunaAAala Allahi shatatan | وأنه كان يقول سفيهنا على الله شططا وَأَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ شَطَطًا | |||||
| Words | |وأنه - And that he| كان - used to| يقول - speak -| سفيهنا - the foolish among us| على - against| الله - Allah| شططا - an excessive transgression.| | ||||||
