| 1 [2:19] | Aw kasayyibin mina alssama-ifeehi thulumatun waraAAdun wabarqunyajAAaloona asabiAAahum fee athanihim mina alssawaAAiqihathara almawti waAllahu muheetunbialkafireena |  أو كصيب من السماء فيه ظلمات ورعد وبرق يجعلون أصابعهم في آذانهم من الصواعق حذر الموت والله محيط بالكافرينأَوْ كَصَيِّبٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ فِيهِ ظُلُمَاتٌ وَّرَعْدٌ وَّبَرْقٌ يَجْعَلُونَ أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِم مِّنَ الصَّوَاعِقِ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ وَاللّهُ مُحِيطٌ بِالْكَافِرِينَ | |||||
| Words | |أو - Or| كصيب - like a rainstorm| من - from| السماء - the sky| فيه - in it (are)| ظلمات - darkness[es],| ورعد - and thunder,| وبرق - and lightning.| يجعلون - They put| أصابعهم - their fingers| في - in| آذانهم - their ears| من - from| الصواعق - the thunderclaps| حذر - (in) fear (of)| الموت - [the] death.| والله - And Allah| محيط - (is) [the One Who] encompasses| بالكافرين - the disbelievers.| | ||||||
| 2 [71:7] | Wa-innee kullama daAAawtuhumlitaghfira lahum jaAAaloo asabiAAahum fee athanihimwaistaghshaw thiyabahum waasarroo waistakbarooistikbaran | وإني كلما دعوتهم لتغفر لهم جعلوا أصابعهم في آذانهم واستغشوا ثيابهم وأصروا واستكبروا استكبارا وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًا | |||||
| Words | |وإني - And indeed, I| كلما - every time,| دعوتهم - I invited them| لتغفر - that You may forgive| لهم - them,| جعلوا - they put| أصابعهم - their fingers| في - in| آذانهم - their ears| واستغشوا - and covered themselves| ثيابهم - (with) their garments| وأصروا - and persisted| واستكبروا - and were arrogant| استكبارا - (with) pride.| | ||||||
