بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Hal yanthuroona illaan ta/tiyahumu almala-ikatu aw ya/tiya rabbuka aw ya/tiyabaAAdu ayati rabbika yawma ya/tee baAAduayati rabbika la yanfaAAu nafsan eemanuhalam takun amanat min qablu aw kasabat fee eemanihakhayran quli intathiroo inna muntathiroona

هل ينظرون إلا أن تأتيهم الملائكة أو يأتي ربك أو يأتي بعض آيات ربك يوم يأتي بعض آيات ربك لا ينفع نفسا إيمانها لم تكن آمنت من قبل أو كسبت في إيمانها خيرا قل انتظروا إنا منتظرون
هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلاَّ أَن تَأْتِيهُمُ الْمَلَآئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِيَ رَبُّكَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَ بَعْضُ آيَاتِ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِي بَعْضُ آيَاتِ رَبِّكَ لاَ يَنفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَانُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ آمَنَتْ مِن قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِي إِيمَانِهَا خَيْرًا قُلِ انتَظِرُواْ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ

Words

መላእክት ልትመጣላቸው ወይም ጌታህ (ቅጣቱ) ሊመጣ ወይም ከጌታህ ምልክቶች ከፊሉ ሊመጣ እንጂ ይጠባበቃሉን ከጌታህ ምልክቶች ከፊሉ በሚመጣ ቀን ከዚህ በፊት አማኝ ያልኾነችን ነፍስ እምነትዋ ወይም በእምነትዋ (ጊዜ) በጎ ያልሠራችን (ነፍስ ጸጸትዋ) አይጠቅማትም፡፡ ተጠባበቁ እኛ ተጠባባቂዎች ነንና በላቸው፡፡

آل الجلالين

{ هل ينظرون } ما ينتظر المكذبون { إلا أن تأتيهم } بالتاء والياء { الملائكة } لقبض أرواحهم { أو يأتي ربُّك } أي أمره بمعنى عذابه { أو يأتي بعض آيات ربِّك } أي علاماته الدالة على الساعة { يوم يأتي بعض آيات ربَّك } وهي طلوع الشمس من مغربها كما في حديث الصحيحين { لا ينفع نفسا إيمانها لم تكن آمنت من قبل } الجملة صفة النفس { أو } نفسا لم تكن { كسبت في إيمانها خيرا } طاعة أي لا تنفعها توبتها كما في الحديث { قل انتظروا } أحد هذه الأشياء { إنا منتظرون } ذلك .

মুহিউদ্দীন খান

তারা শুধু এ বিষয়ের দিকে চেয়ে আছে যে, তাদের কাছে ফেরেশতা আগমন করবে কিংবা আপনার পালনকর্তা আগমন করবেন অথবা আপনার পালনকর্তার কোন নির্দেশ আসবে। যেদিন আপনার পালনকর্তার কোন নিদর্শন আসবে, সেদিন এমন কোন ব্যক্তির বিশ্বাস স্থাপন তার জন্যে ফলপ্রসূ হবে না, যে পূর্ব থেকে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেনি কিংবা স্বীয় বিশ্বাস অনুযায়ী কোনরূপ সৎকর্ম করেনি। আপনি বলে দিনঃ তোমরা পথের দিকে চেয়ে থাক, আমরাও পথে দিকে তাকিয়ে রইলাম।

Literal

Do they wait except that the angels come to them , or your Lord comes, or some (of) your Lord's verses/evidences come? (On) a day/time some (of) your Lord's verses/evidences come, a self's belief does not benefit (it) if it was (had) not believed from before, or gained goodness in its belief, say: "Wait/watch , We are waiting/watching."

Yusuf Ali

Are they waiting to see if the angels come to them, or thy Lord (Himself), or certain of the signs of thy Lord! the day that certain of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith. Say: "Wait ye: we too are waiting."

Pickthal

Wait they, indeed, for nothing less than that the angels should come unto them, or thy Lord should come, or there should come one of the portents from thy Lord? In the day when one of the portents from thy Lord cometh, its belief availeth naught a soul which theretofore believed not, nor in its belief earned good (by works). Say: Wait ye! Lo! We (too) are waiting.

Arberry

What, do they look for the angels to come to them, nothing less, or that thy Lord should come, or that one of thy Lord's signs should come? On the day that one of thy Lord's signs comes it shall not profit a soul to believe that never believed before, or earned some good in his belief. Say: 'Watch and wait; We too are waiting.'

Shakir

They do not wait aught but that the angels should come to them, or that your Lord should come, or that some of the signs of your Lord should come. On the day when some of the signs of your Lord shall come, its faith shall not profit a soul which did not believe before, or earn good through its faith. Say: Wait; we too are waiting.

Sarwar

Are they waiting until the angels or your Lord come to them or for some miracles to take place? On the day when some miracles of God will take place, the belief of any soul will be of no avail to it unless some good deeds have been done with it, or it has been formed before the coming of such a day. (Muhammad), tell them, "Wait and we, too, are waiting."

H/K/Saheeh

Do they [then] wait for anything except that the angels should come to them or your Lord should come or that there come some of the signs of your Lord? The Day that some of the signs of your Lord will come no soul will benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed before or had earned through its faith some good. Say, "Wait. Indeed, we [also] are waiting."

Malik

Are they waiting for the angels or your Lord to come down to them or are they waiting to be given a certain sign of your Lord! On the Day when that certain sign of your Lord appears, the belief will not profit that soul which did not believe before, or who, while professing to believe did not do good deeds. Say to them: "Wait if you will; we too are waiting."[158]

Do they wait for any other than that the angels should come unto them, to part their souls from their bodies; or that thy Lord should come to punish them; or that some of the signs of thy Lord should come to pass, shewing the day of judgement to be at hand? On the day whereon some of thy Lord's signs shall come to pass, its faith shall not profit a soul which believed not before, or wrought not good in its faith. Say, wait ye for this day; we surely do wait for it.

Say: "Wait, [then, for the Last Day, O unbelievers:] behold, we [believers] are waiting, too!"

Khalifa**

Are they waiting for the angels to come to them, or your Lord, or some physical manifestations of your Lord? The day this happens, no soul will benefit from believing if it did not believe before that, and did not reap the benefits of belief by leading a righteous life. Say, "Keep on waiting; we too are waiting."

Hilali/Khan**

Do they then wait for anything other than that the angels should come to them, or that your Lord should come, or that some of the Signs of your Lord should come (i.e. portents of the Hour e.g., arising of the sun from the west)! The day that some of the Signs of your Lord do come, no good will it do to a person to believe then, if he believed not before, nor earned good (by performing deeds of righteousness) through his Faith. Say: "Wait you! we (too) are waiting."

QXP Shabbir Ahemd**

Are they waiting for angels, your Lord, or some physical miracles to come to them? On the Day one of such Signs comes, no person will benefit from declaring belief if he did not believe before. Or who, while believing, did not do good works. (Belief has to be based on Reason and it must lead you to a productive life). Say, "Keep on waiting (for miracles), we too are waiting (for the results of our efforts)".

Sii ko alongan a kapakatalingoma o sabaad ko manga tanda o Kadnan ka, na di makanggay a gona ko ginawa so paratiyaya niyan, o da paratiyaya sa paganay, odi na da nggalbk ko paratiyaya niyan sa mapiya. Tharoang ka a: "Nayaw kano, ka mataan! a skami na nomanayaw kami (mambo)."

کاہے کے انتظار میں ہیں مگر یہ کہ آئیں ان کے پاس فرشتے یا تمہارے رب کا عذاب یا تمہارے رب کی ایک نشانی آئے جس دن تمہارے رب کی وہ ایک نشانی آئے گی کسی جان کو ایمان لانا کام نہ دے گا جو پہلے ایمان نہ لائی تھی یا اپنے ایمان میں کوئی بھلائی نہ کمائی تھی تم فرماؤ رستہ دیکھو ہم بھی دیکھتے ہیں،

نہیں یہ لوگ منتظر مگر اس بات کے کہ آئیں اُن کے پاس فرشتے یا آئے تیرا رب یا آئے کوئی نشانی تیرے رب کی۔ جس دن آئے گی کوئی نشانی تیرے رب کی تو نہ نفع دے گا کسی شخص کو ایمان لانا اس کا جو ایمان نہ لایا ہو اس سے پہلے یا جس نے (نہ) کمائی ہو اپنے ایمان میں کوئی بھلائی۔ ان سے کہہ دو تم انتظار کرو ہم بھی انتظار کرتے ہیں۔

یہ اس کے سوا اور کس بات کے منتظر ہیں کہ ان کے پاس فرشتے آئیں یا خود تمہارا پروردگار آئے یا تمہارے پروردگار کی کچھ نشانیاں آئیں (مگر) جس روز تمہارے پروردگار کی کچھ نشانیاں آ جائیں گی تو جو شخص پہلے ایمان نہیں لایا ہوگا اس وقت اسے ایمان لانا کچھ فائدہ نہیں دے گا یا اپنے ایمان (کی حالت) میں نیک عمل نہیں کئے ہوں گے (تو گناہوں سے توبہ کرنا مفید نہ ہوگا اے پیغمبر ان سے) کہہ دو کہ تم بھی انتظار کرو ہم بھی انتظار کرتے ہیں

کیا اب لوگ اس کے منتظر ہیں کہ ان کے سامنے فرشتے آ کھڑے ہوں، یا تمہارا رب خود آ جائے، یا تمہارے رب کی بعض صریح نشانیاں نمودار ہو جائیں؟ جس روز تمہارے رب کی بعض مخصوص نشانیاں نمودار ہو جائیں گی پھر کسی ایسے شخص کو اس کا ایمان کچھ فائدہ نہ دے گا جو پہلے ایمان نہ لایا ہو یا جس نے اپنے ایمان میں کوئی بھلائی نہ کمائی ہو اے محمدؐ! ان سے کہہ دو کہ اچھا، تم انتظار کرو، ہم بھی انتظار کرتے ہیں
