[58:16] | Ittakhathoo aymanahum junnatanfasaddoo AAan sabeeli Allahi falahum AAathabunmuheenun
|  اتخذوا أيمانهم جنة فصدوا عن سبيل الله فلهم عذاب مهين
اتَّخَذُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوا عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ |
| Words | |اتخذوا - They have taken| أيمانهم - their oaths| جنة - (as) a cover,| فصدوا - so they hinder| عن - from| سبيل - (the) way of Allah,| الله - (the) way of Allah,| فلهم - so for them| عذاب - (is) a punishment| مهين - humiliating.| |

| መሓሎቻቸውን ጋሻ አድርገው ያዙ፡፡ ከአላህም መንገድ አገዱ፡፡ ስለዚህ ለእነርሱ አዋራጅ ቅጣት አልላቸው፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { اتخذوا إيمانهم جُنَّةٌ } سترا على أنفسهم وأموالهم { فصدوا } بها المؤمنين { عن سبيل الله } أي الجهاد فيهم بقتلهم وأخذ أموالهم { فلهم عذاب مهين } ذو إهانة . |

| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | তারা তাদের শপথকে ঢাল করে রেখেছেন, অতঃপর তারা আল্লাহর পথ থেকে মানুষকে বাধা প্রদান করে। অতএব, তাদের জন্য রয়েছে অপমানজনক শাস্তি। |
| Literal | They took their rights/oaths (as) a cover (shield), so they prevented/obstructed from God's way/path , so for them (is) a humiliating/degrading torture. |
| Yusuf Ali | They have made their oaths a screen (for their misdeeds): thus they obstruct (men) from the Path of Allah: therefore shall they have a humiliating Penalty. |
| Pickthal | They make a shelter of their oaths and turn (men) from the way of Allah; so theirs will be a shameful doom. |
