| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[43:17] | Wa-itha bushshira ahaduhum bimadaraba lilrrahmani mathalan thallawajhuhu muswaddan wahuwa katheemun
|  وإذا بشر أحدهم بما ضرب للرحمن مثلا ظل وجهه مسودا وهو كظيم
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَنِ مَثَلًا ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ |
| Words | |وإذا - And when| بشر - is given good news,| أحدهم - (to) one of them,| بما - of what| ضرب - he sets up| للرحمن - for the Most Gracious| مثلا - (as) a likeness,| ظل - becomes| وجهه - his face| مسودا - dark| وهو - and he| كظيم - (is) filled with grief.| |

| አንዳቸውም ለአልረሕማን ምሳሌ ባደረገው ነገር (በሴት ልጅ) በተበሰረ ጊዜ እርሱ በቁጭት የተመላ ኾኖ ፊቱ የጠቆረ ይኾናል፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { وإذا بشر أحدهم بما ضرب للرحمن مثلا } جعل له شبهاً بنسبة البنات إليه لأن الولد يشبه الوالد، المعنى إذا أخبر أحدهم بالبنت تولد له { ظل } صار { وجهه مسودا } متغيراً تغير مغتم { وهو كظيم } ممتلئ غما فكيف ينسب البنات إليه ؟ تعالى عن ذلك . |
| Ma ibbwev ed usali yiwen segsen, $ef wayen id ifka d amedya i Uênin, ad yibrik wudem is, ad ikkufer: |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | তারা রহমান আল্লাহর জন্যে যে, কন্যা-সন্তান বর্ণনা করে, যখন তাদের কাউকে তার সংবাদ দেয়া হয়, তখন তার মুখমন্ডল কালো হয়ে যায় এবং ভীষণ মনস্তাপ ভোগ করে। |
| Literal | And if any of them was announced good news to with what He gave to the merciful (as) an example (the daughters), his face became/continued blackened, and he is holding (his) breath/suppressed . |
| Yusuf Ali | When news is brought to one of them of (the birth of) what he sets up as a likeness to (Allah) Most Gracious, his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief! |
| Pickthal | And if one of them hath tidings of that which he likeneth to the Beneficent One, his countenance becometh black and he is full of inward rage. |
| Arberry | And when any of them is given the good tidings of that he has likened to the All-merciful, his face is darkened, and he chokes inwardly. |
| Shakir | And when one of them is given news of that of which he sets up as a likeness for the Beneficent Allah, his face becomes black and he is full of rage. |
| Sarwar | When one of them is given the glad news of the birth of a daughter, which they believe to be the only kind of child that the Beneficent God can have, his face blackens with anger. |

| Malik | Yet when a new born-girl - the gender that they ascribe to the Compassionate - is announced to one of them, his face darkens and he is filled with grief.[17] |

| George Sale | But when one of them hath the news brought of the birth of a child of that sex which they attribute unto the Merciful, as his similitude, his face becometh black, and he is oppressed with sorrow. |

| Na igira a miyapanothol ko isa kiran so biyaloy niyan a rk o (Allah a) Masalinggagaw a ibarat, na mabaloy so paras iyan a mangirngkirm, a skaniyan na mappno a rata a ginawa! |
| Ahmed Raza Khan | اور جب ان میں کسی کو خوشخبری دی جائے اس چیز کی جس کا وصف رحمن کے لیے بتاچکا ہے تو دن بھر اس کا منہ کالا رہے اور غم کھایا کرے |
