[37:107] | Wafadaynahu bithibhinAAatheemin
|  وفديناه بذبح عظيم
وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ |
| Words | |وفديناه - And We ransomed him| بذبح - with a sacrifice| عظيم - great,| |

| በታላቅ ዕርድም (መስዋዕት) ተቤዠነው፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { وفديناه } أي المأمور بذبحه، وهو إسماعيل أو إسحاق قولان { بذبح } بكبش { عظيم } من الجنة وهو الذي قربه هابيل جاء به جبريل عليه السلام فذبحه السيد إبراهيم مكبرا . |
| Nefda t id, s tmezliwt tabarart. |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | আমি তার পরিবর্তে দিলাম যবেহ করার জন্যে এক মহান জন্তু। |
| Literal | And We substituted him with a great slaughtered (animal). |

To my mind, the sacrifice spoken of here is the one repeated every year by countless believers in connection with the pilgrimage to Mecca (al-hajj), which, in itself, commemorates the experience of Abraham and Ishmael and constitutes one of the "five pillars" of Islam.
