| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[30:56] | Waqala allatheena ootooalAAilma waal-eemana laqad labithtum fee kitabiAllahi ila yawmi albaAAthi fahatha yawmualbaAAthi walakinnakum kuntum la taAAlamoona
|  وقال الذين أوتوا العلم والإيمان لقد لبثتم في كتاب الله إلى يوم البعث فهذا يوم البعث ولكنكم كنتم لا تعلمون
وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ وَالْإِيْمَانَ لَقَدْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْبَعْثِ فَهَذَا يَوْمُ الْبَعْثِ وَلَكِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ |
| Words | |وقال - But will say| الذين - those who| أوتوا - were given| العلم - the knowledge| والإيمان - and the faith,| لقد - "Verily| لبثتم - you remained| في - by| كتاب - (the) Decree| الله - (of) Allah| إلى - until| يوم - (the) Day| البعث - (of) Resurrection.| فهذا - And this| يوم - (is the) Day| البعث - (of) the Resurrection| ولكنكم - but you| كنتم - were| لا - not| تعلمون - knowing.| |

| እነዚያንም ዕውቀትንና እምነትን የተሰጡት «በአላህ መጽሐፍ (ፍርድ) እስከ ትንሣኤ ቀን በእርግጥ ቆያችሁ፡፡ ይህም (የካዳችሁት) የትንሣኤ ቀን ነው፡፡ ግን እናንተ የማታውቁ ነበራችሁ» ይሏቸዋል፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { وقال الذين أوتوا العلم والإيمان } من الملائكة وغيرهم { لقد لبثتم في كتاب الله } فيما كتبه في سابق علمه { إلى يوم البعث فهذا يوم البعث } الذي أنكرتموه { ولكنكم كنتم لا تعلمون } وقوعه. |
| Ad inin wid iwumi teppunefk tussna, akked liman: "ni$ teqqimem di Tezmamt n Öebbi, ar ass n tnekra. Wagi d ass n tnekra, maca tellam ur tessinem". |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | যাদের জ্ঞান ও ঈমান দেয়া হয়েছে, তারা বলবে আমরা আল্লাহর কিতাব মতে পুনরুত্থান দিবস পর্যন্ত অবস্থান করেছি। এটাই পুনরুত্থান দিবস, কিন্তু তোমরা তা জানতে না। |
| Literal | And those who were given/brought the knowledge and the faith/belief said: "You had stayed/remained in God's term/fate/destiny Book to the Revival Day/Resurrection Day, so this (is) the Revival Day/Resurrection Day, and but you were not knowing. |
| Yusuf Ali | But those endued with knowledge and faith will say: "Indeed ye did tarry, within Allah's Decree, to the Day of Resurrection, and this is the Day of Resurrection: but ye - ye were not aware!" |

It is to be noted that the verb labitha signifies "he waited [for something] or he was tardy [with regard to something]" as well as "he stayed [in a place]" or "he remained". Evidently, in verse 55 ma labithu has the meaning of "they had not stayed" or "remained", while in verse 56 labithtum denotes "you have been tardy" or "you have waited".] [and you have waited] until the Day of Resurrection: this, then, is the Day of Resurrection: but you - you were determined not to know it! [Lit., "you were wont not to know" - i.e., "you persistently closed your mind to this promise".] |
