| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[25:21] | Waqala allatheena layarjoona liqaana lawla onzila AAalaynaalmala-ikatu aw nara rabbana laqadiistakbaroo fee anfusihim waAAataw AAutuwwan kabeeran
|  وقال الذين لا يرجون لقاءنا لولا أنزل علينا الملائكة أو نرى ربنا لقد استكبروا في أنفسهم وعتوا عتوا كبيرا
وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَوْ نَرَى رَبَّنَا لَقَدِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي أَنفُسِهِمْ وَعَتَوْ عُتُوًّا كَبِيرًا |
| Words | |وقال - And said| الذين - those who| لا - (do) not| يرجون - expect| لقاءنا - (the) meeting with Us,| لولا - "Why not| أنزل - are sent down| علينا - to us| الملائكة - the Angels| أو - or| نرى - we see| ربنا - our Lord?"| لقد - Indeed,| استكبروا - they have become arrogant| في - within| أنفسهم - themselves| وعتوا - and (become) insolent| عتوا - (with) insolence| كبيرا - great.| |

| እነዚያም መገናኘታችንን የማይፈሩት በእኛ ላይ ለምን መላእክት አልወረደም፡፡ ወይም ጌታችንን ለምን አናይም አሉ፡ በነፍሶቻቸው ውስጥ በእርግጥ ኮሩ፡፡ ታላቅንም አመጽ አመፁ፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { وقال الذين لا يرجون لقاءنا } لا يخافون البعث { لولا } هلا { أنزل علينا الملائكة } فكانوا رسلا إلينا { أو نرى ربنا } فنخبر بأن محمدا رسوله قال تعالى: { لقد استكبروا } تكبروا { في } شأن { أنفسهم وعتوْا } طغوا { عُتُوَّا كبيرا } بطلبهم رؤية الله تعالى في الدنيا، وعتوا بالواو على أصله بخلاف عتى بالإبدال في مريم . |
| Nnan wid ur nessarem ara timlilit yidne£: "a lemmer id ssersen lmalayek $uône$, ne$ nwala Mass nne$"! Ni$ sme$wôen aîas iman nnsen, u ffuhrin aîas. |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | যারা আমার সাক্ষাৎ আশা করে না, তারা বলে, আমাদের কাছে ফেরেশতা অবতীর্ণ করা হল না কেন? অথবা আমরা আমাদের পালনকর্তাকে দেখি না কেন? তারা নিজেদের অন্তরে অহংকার পোষণ করে এবং গুরুতর অবাধ্যতায় মেতে উঠেছে। |
| Literal | And those who do not hope/expect meeting Us said: "If only angels were descended on (to) us, or we see our Lord." They had become arrogant in themselves, and they became arrogant/disobedient, great arrogance/disobedience. |
| Yusuf Ali | Such as fear not the meeting with Us (for Judgment) say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or (why) do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they have an arrogant conceit of themselves, and mighty is the insolence of their impiety! |

| Sarwar | Those who have no desire to meet Us have said, "Would that the angels had been sent to us or that we could see our Lord." They are really filled with pride and have committed the greatest and worst kind of rebellion and hostility. |

Indeed, they are far too proud of themselves, having rebelled [against God's truth] with utter disdain! |
