| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[12:42] | Waqala lillathee thannaannahu najin minhuma othkurnee AAindarabbika faansahu alshshaytanu thikrarabbihi falabitha fee alssijni bidAAa sineena
|  وقال للذي ظن أنه ناج منهما اذكرني عند ربك فأنساه الشيطان ذكر ربه فلبث في السجن بضع سنين
وَقَالَ لِلَّذِي ظَنَّ أَنَّهُ نَاجٍ مِّنْهُمَا اذْكُرْنِي عِندَ رَبِّكَ فَأَنسَاهُ الشَّيْطَانُ ذِكْرَ رَبِّهِ فَلَبِثَ فِي السِّجْنِ بِضْعَ سِنِينَ |
| Words | |وقال - And he said| للذي - to the one whom| ظن - he thought| أنه - that he| ناج - (would be) saved| منهما - of both of them,| اذكرني - "Mention me| عند - to| ربك - your master."| فأنساه - But made him forget| الشيطان - the Shaitaan| ذكر - (the) mention| ربه - (to) his master,| فلبث - so he remained| في - in| السجن - the prison| بضع - several| سنين - years.| |

| ለዚያም ከሁለቱ እርሱ የሚድን መሆኑን ለተጠራጠረው እጌታህ ዘንድ አስታውሰኝ አለው፡፡ ጌታውንም ከማስታወስ ሰይጣን አስረሳው፡፡ ለጥቂት ዓመታትም በወህኒ ቤቱ ውስጥ ቆየ፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { وقال للذي ظن } أيقن { أنه ناج منهما } وهو الساقي { اذكرني عند ربك } سيدك فقل له إن في السجن غلاما محبوسا ظلما فخرج { فأنساه } أي الساقي { الشيطان ذكْرَ } يوسف عند { ربه فلبث } مكث يوسف { في السجن بضع سنين } قيل سبعا وقيل اثنتي عشرة. |
| Inna i win iêûa ad islek, segsen: "ar bab ik, smekti iyi d". Cciîan iseppu t, ur t id ismekti ar bab is. Irna, di lêebs, kra iseggwasen. |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | যে ব্যক্তি সম্পর্কে ধারণা ছিল যে, সে মুক্তি পাবে, তাকে ইউসুফ বলে দিলঃ আপন প্রভুর কাছে আমার আলোচনা করবে। অতঃপর শয়তান তাকে প্রভুর কাছে আলোচনার কথা ভুলিয়ে দিল। ফলে তাঁকে কয়েক বছর কারাগারে থাকতে হল। |
| Literal | And he said to whom he thought/assumed that he is saved from them (B): "Mention me at your lord." So the devil made him forget, his lords' reminder , so he stayed/waited in the prison/jail (a) few/some (between 3-9) years. |
| Yusuf Ali | And of the two, to that one whom he consider about to be saved, he said: "Mention me to thy lord." But Satan made him forget to mention him to his lord: and (Joseph) lingered in prison a few (more) years. |
