| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |

[11:8] | Wala-in akhkharna AAanhumu alAAathabaila ommatin maAAdoodatin layaqoolunna ma yahbisuhuala yawma ya/teehim laysa masroofan AAanhum wahaqabihim ma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oona
|  ولئن أخرنا عنهم العذاب إلى أمة معدودة ليقولن ما يحبسه ألا يوم يأتيهم ليس مصروفا عنهم وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزئون
وَلَئِنْ أَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابَ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ مَّعْدُودَةٍ لَّيَقُولُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُ أَلاَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمْ لَيْسَ مَصْرُوفًا عَنْهُمْ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُونَ |
| Words | |ولئن - And if| أخرنا - We delay| عنهم - from them| العذاب - the punishment| إلى - for| أمة - a time| معدودة - determined,| ليقولن - they will surely say,| ما - "What| يحبسه - detains it?"| ألا - No doubt!| يوم - (On) the Day| يأتيهم - it comes to them| ليس - not| مصروفا - (will be) averted| عنهم - from them| وحاق - and will surround| بهم - them| ما - what| كانوا - they used (to)| به - mock at [it].| يستهزئون - mock at [it].| |

| ቅጣቱንም ወደ ተቆጠሩ (ጥቂት) ጊዜያቶች ከእነርሱ ብናቆይላቸው «(ከመውረድ) የሚከለክለው ምንድን ነው» ይላሉ፡፡ ንቁ! በሚመጣባቸው ቀን ከእነሱ ላይ ተመላሽ አይደለም፡፡ በእርሱ ይሳለቁበት የነበሩትም (ቅጣት) በእነርሱ ላይ ይወርድባቸዋል፡፡ |
| آل الجلالين | { ولئن أخرنا عنهم العذاب إلى } مجيء { أمة } أوقات { معدودة ليقولن } استهزاء { ما يحبسه } ما يمنعه من النزول قال تعالى: { ألا يوم يأتيهم ليس مصروفا } مدفوعا { عنهم وحاق } نزل { بهم ما كانوا به يستهزئون } من العذاب . |
| Ma Neswexxeô asen aâaqeb ar imir ipwassnen, war ccekk, a d inin: "d acu iT iîîfen"? Ass ideg ara ten id iawev, day illa wa ara ten iveôôfen segs? Ad asen izzi wayen i$ef pmmaâliken. |
| মুহিউদ্দীন খান | আর যদি আমি এক নির্ধারিত মেয়াদ পর্যন্ত তাদের আযাব স্থগিত রাখি, তাহলে তারা নিশ্চয়ই বলবে কোন জিনিসে আযাব ঠেকিয়ে রাখছে? শুনে রাখ, যেদিন তাদের উপর আযাব এসে পড়বে, সেদিন কিন্তু তা ফিরে যাওয়ার নয়; তারা যে ব্যাপারে উপহাস করত তাই তাদেরকে ঘিরে ফেলবে। |
| Literal | And if We delayed the punishment from them to a counted/numbered generation they will say (E) what prevents/withholds it ? Is it not (on that) day (when it) comes to them (it is) not diverted/sent away from them? And surrounded/encircled with them what they were with it mocking/making fun of. |
| Yusuf Ali | If We delay the penalty for them for a definite term, they are sure to say, "What keeps it back?" Ah! On the day it (actually) reaches them, nothing will turn it away from them, and they will be completely encircled by that which they used to mock at! |
| Pickthal | And if We delay for them the doom until a reckoned time, they will surely say: What withholdeth it? Verily on the day when it cometh unto them, it cannot be averted from them, and that which they derided will surround them. |
| Arberry | And if We postpone the chastisement from them till a reckoned moment they will say 'What is detaining it?' Surely, the day it shall come to them, it shall not be turned aside from them, and they shall be encompassed by that they mocked at. |
| Shakir | And if We hold back from them the punishment until a stated period of time, they will certainly say: What prevents it? Now surely on the day when it will come to them, it shall not be averted from them and that which they scoffed at shall beset them. |
| Sarwar | If We delay in afflicting them with Our punishment for an appointed time, they ask, "What is preventing it (the punishment) from taking place?" On the day when it (punishment) befalls them, no one will be able to escape from it and that which they have mocked will surround them from all sides. |
| H/K/Saheeh | And if We hold back from them the punishment for a limited time, they will surely say, "What detains it?" Unquestionably, on the Day it comes to them, it will not be averted from them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule. |
| Malik | And if We put off their punishment till an appointed time, they are sure to ask: "What is holding it back?" Beware! When the Day of that punishment comes, nothing will hold it back from them and they will be completely encircled by that which they are ridiculing.[8] |
| Maulana Ali** | And if We delay for them the chastisement for a stated period, they will certainly say: What prevents it? Now surely on the day when it will come to them, it will not be averted from them, and that which they scoffed at will beset them. |
| Free Minds | And if We delay for them the retribution to a near period, they will Say: "What has kept it?" Alas, on the day it comes to them, nothing will turn it away from them, and what they used to mock will catch-up with them. |
| Qaribullah | And if We delay the punishment till an appointed time, they will ask: 'What has detained it? ' Indeed, the Day will come to them, it will not be turned away from them, and that they mocked at will encompass them. |
| George Sale | And verily if We defer their punishment unto a determined season, they will say, what hindreth it from falling on us? Will it not come upon them on a day, wherein there shall be none to avert it from them; and that which they scoffed at shall incompass them? |

Oh, verily, on the Day when it befalls them there will be nothing to avert it from them; and they shall be overwhelmed by the very thing which they were wont to deride." |
| Khalifa** | And if we delay the retribution they have incurred - for we reserve it for a specific community - they say, "What is keeping Him?" In fact, once it comes to them, nothing can stop it, and their mocking will come back to haunt them. |

| Ja jos Me viivytämme heidän tuomiotaan jonkin aikaa, niin he varmasti ilkkuvat: »Mikähän sitä estelee?» Totisesti sinä päivänä, jolloin se heidät saavuttaa, ei sitä voida torjua. Ja se, jolle he nauroivat, on lankeava heidän päällensä. |
| Na mataan! a o sndodn Ami kiran so siksa taman ko manga wakto a mappnto, na ptharoon iran dn a: "Antonaa i maka-uurn on?" Tanodan, ka so alongan a kapakatalingoma niyan kiran, na di kiran dn mikisar, go kalikopan siran o piyamagompat iran (a siksa)! |
| Ahmed Raza Khan | اور اگر ہم ان سے عذاب کچھ گنتی کی مدت تک ہٹادیں تو ضرور کہیں گے کس چیز نے روکا ہے سن لو جس دن ان پر آئے گا ان سے پھیرا نہ جائے گا، اور انہیں گھیرے گا وہی عذاب جس کی ہنسی اڑاتے تھے |
| Shabbir Ahmed | اور اگر ہم مؤخر کرتے ہیں اُن سے عذاب ایک مقررہ مدّت تک تو ضرور کہتے ہیں یہ لوگ کہ کس چیز نے روک رکھا ہے اسے؟ یاد رکھو جس دن آئے گا وہ (عذاب) اِن پر، نہیں ٹلے گا وہ اِن سے اور گھیر لے گا اِن کو وہ (عذاب) جس کا یہ مذاق اُڑایا کرتے تھے۔ |

| Abul Ala Maududi | اور اگر ہم ایک خاص مدت تک ان کی سزا کو ٹالتے ہیں تو وہ کہنے لگتے ہیں کہ آخر کس چیز نے اُسے روک رکھا ہے؟ سنو! جس روز اُس سزا کا وقت آگیا تو وہ کسی کے پھیرے نہ پھر سکے گا اور وہی چیز ان کو آ گھیرے گی جس کا وہ مذاق اڑا رہے ہیں |
